I think that there are several bees resting in my yard that have similar markings. I'm posted this shot on Facebook in the hope that I can get an ID. The current consensus is Anthidium florentinum (male, due to the number of segments in the antenna) which is one of several species that are collectively called European Wool Carder Bees.

Tech Specs: Canon 90D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to 1x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT, E-TTL metering, -1 FEC). This is a single frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order.

Nice photo - do they feed in your yard? Apparently, the males are quite aggresive to other insects, sadly I have never seen this.

They feed, mate, and sleep in my Lavender. They seem to really like the nectar from it. The males are straight up gangsters and will chase just about everything away from the Lavender.

The level of detail people are capturing in this thread is incredible. This pales compared to what normally gets shown here. But this insect is something I've not seen around my house before. These are large hornet/wasps that are digging holes in my garden and they must be close to 1 1/2 " in length. Could they be cicada killer's?

Correct on the ID (golden digger wasp). They paralyze grasshoppers and put them in the burrow, with an egg. "Buzzy", but not at all aggressive and fun to watch.

With all the colorful shots in this thread I was a bit reluctant to post pictures of dirt. But the Miner Bees were very interesting.

Couple of bee shots in the garden. The second one is a bee that appeared to be poorly and some syrup seemed to revive it.

He’s well camouflaged. Nature is fascinating. Great shots.
