Found a little Scissor Bee (Osmia (Chelostoma) florisomne, male) semi active in a Buttercup flower.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, and Clarity in that order.

I found this Honeybee in an orange tree cleaning her proboscis. Really tricky shooting a moving subject at about 2.5x and getting the plane of focus where it needs to be. Lots of deleted frames.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (about 2.5x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, and Clarity in that order.

Andrena cineraria. A good looking stout little bee, about 8-9mm long and in good numbers here this year. They fly over the nest site for 2-10 seconds, spotting an entrance, then they land a few inches from the opening and scurry down the hole so you've got to be quick.

I spent about 30 mins with them today and managed to grab a few keepers.

Here's a hastily snatched image showing the telltale blue reflections which their abdomens give in some lights.

And there he goes down the hole (under the leaf to his right) :)

It's the time of year that I pick up the camera again. Some of my first shots of the season.

Found a little Scissor Bee (Chelostoma florisomne, male) semi active in a Buttercup flower. At 5x magnification he still doesn't completely fill the frame, and the scene is only 4.5mm wide.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (4x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, and Clarity in that order.

 My bad! I see now it clearly says - "any non-butterfly" - I just saw "all pollinators are welcome - wasps, etc".
