Just a Common Carder, going crazy for our Everlasting Sweatpeas. Couldn't get as close I'd have liked - it was supercharged and flitting from one flower to the next.

I have noticed that the lower I get the better the image. When I'm standing over a subject is when the highlights seem to appear the most. I prefer being low. I have a (very) short stool that I sit on when shooting basketball games under the net. I often have this ready so I can stay low longer. Problem is that I often find myself standing so I can block the sun.

Very true, if I had lots of money I would buy a house with a big garden sloping upwards, to make wildlife and macro photos easier. It really helps particularly if you are not that flexible.

Very nice - they seem to me, to be the fastest of all bumblebees.

I went to my sister in law's house for another round of photographing Bumblebees in her Lavender, although a lot of the flowers are dead and the bees have moved on I managed to find one cooperative subject.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/160, ISO 200) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to around 2x) + a diffused MT-26EX RT (E-TTL metering). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order.

Not sure that she would like that (all the worker bees are female). Love that first frame!

Lol. Thank you. When I saw the first bee it was covered even worse in pollen but could not get a shot of him (sorry, her). I was instantly reminded of the movie "Scarface" when he picks his head up from the pile of cocaine. I will have to pay attention to that particular plant the next time out. So much pollen & so many bees. They were like kids in a candy store. They could have sat still & had all the pollen they wanted. But no, the next flower must have even more pollen!!!!

I found this Leaf Cutter Bee early in the morning, covered in pollen, and the dew had slowed its metabolism down. While photographing it the critter woke up and started foraging for nectar. I've had this happen to me with a few subjects and I think it's a combination of being large in their field of view (can't figure out what I am so not seen as a threat) and being in the right place at the right time.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/125, ISO 200) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to over 2x) + a diffused MT-26EX RT (E-TTL metering). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order.

I put a few drops of Agave Nectar on a zucchini flower to give this honeybee a reason to let me get close. If you view the original sized image you can see the barbs on the Zucchini pollen that's stuck to her hair.

Thanks! Tricky cause the Zucchini flower acts like a yellow reflector.
