Oh, I see the leg now. I was referring to the pollen in the upper right hand quarter. Look like teeny, tiny meteors falling to earth.

I spotted this European Wool Carder Bee snoozing in some flowers around sundown and waited until the next morning to photograph it. But it was 23C (73F) and it didn't take long for it to wake up and fly off.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 200) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to roughly 2x) + a diffused MT-26EX RT (E-TTL metering). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order.

Not my sharpest shot of the afternoon. Was initially intrigued by the crazy amount of pollen it was carrying around but once I looked at the image bigger, I'm impressed with the reach of it's neck.

This one was a bit confused, first it fell from the grass, than it 'flew' on to my jeans.

What's interesting to me, is that there are two "queens" starting a nest together. Is that normal in Oz? I thought that was a solo gig.

Over here, we have some wasp, "Yellow Jackets", that one species starts a nest a month earlier in the Spring, then when the queen of the other species finally wakes up, it will invade the first one's nest, kill that queen, then use the first queen's offspring as slaves to raise her's. I wonder if one of these will later dominate the other?

Here is one from a few years ago, didn’t even see the bee until after I took the shot. Came out from the blossom just as I tripped the shutter.

Are those with extension tubes?

Went out to shoot some landscapes yesterday but the weather was rubbish so ended up down my local lane looking for bugs. Poor light explains the high ISO required.
