HI,

Need some help with portrait studio setup.

I am planning to take full body shots and head shots.

I have the following only with me currently.

Canon 5D III
24-105 F4
Two 480 EX II
Backdrop and flash stands.
Which softboxes should I buy to setup a two light setup? Also, tips on how to setup the camera and the lights.

Option 1: 120 cm softbox + 80 cm (this is indoor setup)

You may want to fix your typos. Canon never made a 480EX II flash. Is that 430, or 580?

You have identified two types of Soft-boxes. One is shallow and the other one is significantly deeper.
Each has its place and produces different effects upon the subject and subsequent shadow.
Assuming you have 2 x 580exII you could opt for 2 x Deeper soft-boxes
Assuming you have 2 x 580exII you could opt for 2 x shallow soft-boxes
Assuming you have 2 x 580exII you could opt for 1 x shallow soft-box & 1 x deep soft-box (The 580exII has adequate power to drive-through the deeper soft-box)

Assuming you have 2 x 430ex you should ONLY consider the shallow soft-boxes to ensure you get adequate light to hit you subject (430ex has less power)

I hope this helps.
