Any recommendations on wheeled cases? I am looking for a case that can carry 2-3 c stands (turtle bases), a nano stand and some accessories. Lights will go in a smaller case. The Think Tank prod manager 50 checks all the boxes but it would be about $1250 CAN after taxes and shipping. Out of the budget atm. The only other "photo" case is the photoflex transpac dual. Not sure on how durable this one is. Anyone with experience?

I am also looking into drum hardware bags/cases but they lack the customisable padded dividers.

I am doing more and more location work and would like to reduce the schlep to two trips to the car. No flying. No battlezone locations. Just studio to vehicle to shoot and back again.

I've used the Photoflex Transpack Dual (external link) for an interview light kit. It worked great and the price is reasonable.

The best info I saw on this same question elsewhere was that the photo specific cases represent a big markup on what is essentially a golf bag: https://www.amazon.com …h-Transport/dp/B003DQZL4S (external link)

Compare this against, e.g.: https://www.bhphotovideo.com …WH_11_Tuffpak_Series.html (external link)

Something like this? I’m sure these are available near you. I’d also look for a Fiberbilt case with wheels.

Ive got one of these that holds pretty much everything I own for any big shoots..

https://www.amazon.com …T=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch (external link)

And one of these for when I wont want to carry everything..

https://www.amazon.com …=8-14&keywords=studio+bag (external link)

They are obvious budget pieces, but have serviced me well and I am happy.

Only shooting Z6II, moved up from the Z50; both are fantastic

How would you rate the durability? I have read a few reviews that state the zipper is a cheapo. I have a very bad history with zippers...

Other wise this case could be a good substitute for the thinktank. I wonder if Photoflex would sell me an extra divider (the long one) ?

I am also trying to stay away from the golf bag style as they usually lack dividers. My c stands are all black and the coating scrapes off if they are banging together.

You could buy high density foam (sleeping bag ground pads, for example, are very cheap) and parly slit them (not all the way through) and fold along the cuts to make compartments. A little bit of adhesive glue permits you added flexibility in dividing the space. I used that method to customize an ordinary daypack, so it would hold a medium format kit for a trip in South America that would look not conspicuous as containing photographic gear.

Check out a good music store that has a lighting section. SKB makes nice drum cases as well as light Stand cases.

Head over to Lowe’s and Home Depot for a look. They’ve got wheeled cases that won’t cost a kings ransom. All because it’s not a photo store.

Or

...Cheetah Stand has them on sale on occasion.

I don't have it anymore but I remember the zipper being pretty big and strong. I never had any problems with it. We carted that kit around LA a lot.

I use these two to lug around my lighting stuff:

A big Husky bin where I store my softboxes, cables, and other various stuff.

I put my actual strobes, transceivers, power cords, etc. inside of this SKB case with padded dividers and Pelican 1650 lid organizer.

Ive got a Home Depot one similar. Wheels. It has 2 railings along the top like an SUV. I bungee cord my stands and other things on top. Stackable too for smaller boxes on top if needed in a pinch.

Q: where did you get the padded dividers.

I have some Peli/Nanuk cases for lights and use one of the homedepot style cases for accesories for food shoots. The problem is finding a case long enough for c stands (turtle base). So far in the running are the Photoflex, Think Tank and possibly the larger Manfrotto roller. I LOVE the think tank but hate the price. May save up for another month or so and bite the bullet...
