Last night I attempted to view the photos from a wedding shoot by loading the sd card into this adapter for my iPad. When I removed the sd card it caught and tore this away. Are there any places that repair this kind of damage to sd cards or am I out of luck?
Not a paid gig but I had over 200 shots of a friend's wedding and there were some keepers. Disappointed!

If I "read" the image correctly I'm seeing the piece that is adjacent to the terminals. You could attempt to use a drop of speedy glue at each end at each to put it back in place. I would carefully apply the smallest of drops, perhaps with a toothpick before holding the two pieces together. Looking at a Sandisk card of my own I think I would, before doing anything, carefully insert the card into the card reader, and attempt to retrieve the images. After getting them off, consider the card "hosed" and contact Sandisk for a replacement under warranty (lifetime for Extreme SDHC).

I would just carefully insert the remains of the SD card into a card reader placing it where you think it would normally be. Then try to read it. If necessary, slide it in or out and try again. Once all the contacts are closed, it should read normally. The plastic bit from the end is not really essential, except for stopping the card at the right place.

Gentleman, I can't thank you enough. I thought, looking at the damage with my 60 year old eyes, that I was seeing metal broke off. After putting on my magnifying headset I could see you were correct. A little piece of scotch tape held it together long enough to insert into my regular card reader and download to Lightroom. Thank You, Thank You!!!!

Thank You, Thank You!!!!

Glad it worked out, now go back to Sandisk and get a warranty replacement. The picture you already provided might be all you need.

SD cards today are made from what is called a SIP package. If you open the plastics, it is one modded piece of substrates with SD interface contacts exposed. You can't really damage the substrate easily. All the SD plastic casing does is to fill the SD card form factor spacing. So you just need to insert your card into a reader, and maybe use paper to make sure contacts have enough pressure.

Attached is an older SD cards. Notice the piece of substrate. This is a 8GB ultra card. With 32GB extreme, the substrate will just be longer, maybe by about 50%. As you can see, there is still a lot of room in the SD casing. The 512GB SD extreme substrate has the entire casing filled
