Considering myself pretty lucky today! I was shooting an event with a test drive 300mm 2.8 ii and my 1DX. While chatting with another photographer, all of a sudden the lens detached from the body!! Luckily I was holding both the body and lens in each hand... Otherwise one would have hit the ground-? I must have somehow depressed the lens release button. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have had a similar instance twice while using BlackRapid straps. I carry the camera body foreword for quick access. I think my own hand depressed the lens release button while holding the lens near the body and walking. As I use the strap attached to the lens mount it was the camera body that twisted off and fell to the ground. I rigged a small safety strap since the 2nd drop.

I have purchased 3 separate strapping systems. I was fine while standing in one place for action to happen but got quite nervous during football season while running up and down the field. Now, all 3 systems sit in my closet basically brand new.:-( I do not feel comfortable at all!!

I use the strap that came with my Sigma 150-600C around my neck every time I use it. In addition to having a standard Canon strap around my neck.
