I know this is a terrible image cause i took it with my iphone but I’m just looking for an ID . It’s some kind of Heron but not sure which one but i do know it’s not a Green Heron or a Black Crowned Night Heron which i may have called that wrong but i have photographed both i mentioned and this one did not look like either one or color . Anyone know which one ?

That’s what i was thinking maybe , but half it’s chest was gray instead of all white like the others i have photographed or seen and it didn’t have that long dual white hair on it’s crown like the ones I’ve seen or the one in your images . That’s why it’s throwing me . It never bulged or twitched no matter what noise i made from a wooden dock i was on .

I would say Yellow-crowned Night Heron...

Darker/Grey chest, black chin strap, thick black stripe through eye-line and difficult to be sure in your picture but I think a hint of yellow crown.

Regards

Kev

I think you both are right . I looked it up and the picture that shows an immature bird looks identical to what this bird looked like in my eyes .
