If you had both on neck straps, and somebody was trying to mug you, which would you rather have to slingshot around and hit them with? :)

On a serious note, which do you find yourself picking up more often to shoot with? That is your answer.

Because you shoot landscape primarily and the 6D is an awesome landscape camera. Smaller and lighter than the 1d.

I had a 1Ds3 and a 5D2. I ended up flogging the 1Ds3. Big, heavy and ultimately lots of cash tied up in a dated body that was better spent elsewhere.

Why?

Ds is older camera. It means it will loose Canon support sooner.
It might be bigger for no reason you need it to be bigger.
Even if you do exposure bracketing, replacing of less robust 6D shutter doesn't cost too much.
Do you benefit from Ds advanced controls or 6D larger screen?
Do you see any difference in sensors?

I prefer 5Dc because of its sensor, but they are not supported by Canon anymore. I sold it shortly after support was ended.

I find it interesting that when it comes to cars, many folks bash dealer service and go to independents, yet when it comes to cameras they abandon them when the 'factory service' no longer works on them yet independent shops continue to work on them.

:-)

I had an independent shop replace the main circuit in my 5Dc because I could not afford a 5DIII or 5DIV

I find this post humorous. What part of that does the 5D2 NOT qualify for? :)

Don't know what is situation where you are. Where I'm here is no independent services for Canon I'm aware of.
I used Canon Canada service center few times. They are very reasonable on price, quick and in twenty minutes drive.

Actually, it is not about who provided the service, but if OEM parts are still available. If you want cars analogy to be dumped here.
Once camera is out from manufacturer support, no parts in stock. Canon Canada do sell parts, BTW.

So, my situation, location is different from yours. I'm driving small car because gas prices here are government supported, benefiting from organized rip-off.

Nor I need III and IV. What for, if 5Dc was all I need? Used 6D is more affordable now comparing to used 5Dc then I purchased it. And 6D is closer to 5Dc, IMO.

Yet, again, to car analogies, you are driving old chevy cavalier and complaining you have no money for corvette. 5DMKII is still supported by Canon and not expensive either.

The 5D II is still a great camera. It's my primary and I don't really have too much reason to upgrade yet. But it's getting close. Probably in the next 2-3 years.

Keep the 1dsmiii, I had one and still miss it. Service be damned, the 1DSMIII is one AWESOME camera that just feels so much better while shooting it.
