YouTube has numerous tutorials for PSP also. Here's a recorded webinar Working with Layers (external link)

Search on YouTube for PaintShop Pro (external link)

I just checked and layers are preserved when saving to PSD. (Paintshop Pro 2019 and X8).

I will, thanks!
Seems like Photoshop and Paint Shop have similar layouts and tools

Yes there are some things that are, however there's plenty that are not. What version of PSP do you have? FWIW, I'm a long time beta-tester and Co-Admin of Corel's help forums.

So in your opinion, is it worth me updating to Photoshop?

That's a decision only you can make. Do you make a living as a photographer? If so, you can pass the cost off to your customers. I had the Photography Bundle for a couple of years, but had to drop it last year. So I've been using LR 6.14 (last perpetual version) and PSP or Affinity Photo. There is a rather steep learning curve with PhotoShop. Even when I had PhotoShop I still done the majority of my RAW processing/editing in LR.

I'm just wondering if Photoshop is easier than PSP. I dont mind the cost of the program as long as it helps me learn and speed up.
Of course for what I do, not professional, I have a lot to learn even on PSP so I guess I need to just learn first.

You mentioned updating to PS. You can't get that as a stand alone anymore. You would have to get it as a subscription. You are probably never come close to using PS to it's full capacity.

If you did go subscription you get LR7. LR7 introduced Range Mask to prevent the need from going to PS. Not as sophisticated but I don't what your needs are. I'm also not saying you should get subscription but I mentioned it because I don't know myc about other programs that offer layers.

I'm sure I dont need everything it has to offer. PSP has more than I need at this time.
I'm trying to learn about layers and everything I can but for now this works for me.

I am in the process of getting my real estate license and once i get that going I want to get into real estate photography. Everyone around here takes a cell phone and snaps whatever they get, blurry or not.

I'd stick with PSP unless you find you are missing a feature. I can't imagine Photoshop being any easier to use :)

NP. I shot real estate for a few months. If you want nice images you will be surprised at how much time editing eats up even when you have your process flow firing on all cylinders. Not sure if you want to get into 360 degree panos but that was one of my requirements.

Anyway good luck to getting your license and I hope it all goes well for you.

Thank you.
The photography part is just a thought right now, I dont know if there is enough need/money in my area for it to be profitable for me. My wife looks at real estate every day because shes dying to flip a house since it only takes 30 mins to do it(just like on tv) . She hollers ' look at these pictures' . It's amazing what they post to promote a house and pull in buyers.

Yep. I tried to do the gig in about 30 minutes and would hit that most if the time. Then you consider travel time but I was not selling so I could just concentrate on that. My best time for the shooting, travel, editing and uploading was just over 3 hrs per shoot. Average about 4 because there is always something unexpected. A few times the site was slow so I had to wait because there was a deadline.

You have hope people listened to you and uncluttered stuff, etc. Even simple stuff like putting toilet seats down. If they didn't you have to. It still chews time.

Every so often there was no furniture and bare walls so I had to place sticky notes on the walls so when I overlapped for 360 degree panos the software had a reference to work with. If you don't have to worry about panos all the better.

Not trying to discourage you. Just sharing some of my experiences. You might love doing it because it is for yourself.

Human nature lol. Cleaning the house for the photographer is not high priority when selling. As for being busy I expect that is why the real estate agents hire real estate photo companies.
