For pete's sake, who is saying the lens doesn't work? From experience, most of us know that such a fast lens requires a very good understanding of how it works, and how to use it. I am quite sure the lens works, and I am quite sure the person found a good deal, bought it, and doesn't know how to use it. A non-working lens isn't the issue here on this thread.

The issue is that if you sell anything online and use a well known payment service, you will also have to be prepared for returns, so you have to factor that into how and what you sell. Nothing more. It stinks that there are ignorant and ill-intentioned buyers out there, but it comes with the territory today, so you have to learn to take the good with the bad.

Well said, but a private seller is not a multi million dollar company who can prob return item to manufacturer or has insurance for such instances. B&H has a name and reputation and I don't. I know you'll prob say I do but I sell 1 lens every 5 yrs. $850 is 1.5 weeks pay. It's my families summer vacation. This is actually a big deal for a family who's income is less then $75k a year. So I can't offer the same luxuries as Adorama and that's why u pay $1400 and buy a new lens with a warranty. You are insinuating a used lens has the same warranty as a new one.

Who cares how much the company is worth. Do you expect a different return policy for non functioning items from B&H than you do the camera store at the corner of the street 5 minutes from your house? A seller is a seller, PERIOD. You chose to accept a transaction through a business called PayPal knowing the risks involved and now you continue to make every excuse under the sun why you are different than millions of others who use PayPal daily.

I am sure the point has been drilled home as far as it can go at this point. :)

Paypal will be the deciding factor here, I am sure, as to decide the fate of this sale (or return).

As I stated in the locked thread, have her ship the lens back at her expense, if it not as shipped out, file a counterclaim with Pay-Pal.

If she sends the lens back without a signature required, you never received it, tough for her no refund, too bad.

When a person is dealing with a non-retailer both sides are taking a risk, that's life.
