Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR Lens !!

So, Wifey & I went out for just an hour or so this afternoon to see if we could spot any Mississippi Kites near a nest that my buddy just stumbled across. It was really hot & horribly humid - stand & sweat situation.

All she did was tell me how bad her shots were gonna be today.

This is the 1st one off her XQD card....

Very nice, Dan! Like Matt, I really like this one - although all of them are top notch. I know how difficult if can be to capture these guys properly, w/o blowing the highlights & wreaking the beautiful pinks. VERY well done! Were these from the yak, or from shore?

Yea, it's a shame you can't get a creamy background with the 500PF @ 5.6

Anyone recognize this little guy? The beak reminds me of house finch, so I was wondering about possibly a gold finch...???...

More 500mm Macro. Gotta pass the lunch hour somehow when the birds are all hiding from the heat.

I tried some Macro as well. The lens works in a pinch (especially with the TC)

That's an interesting possibility. There are certainly some similarities in that link. This one sure had a lot of yellow...???... I may go back to that area today & see if I can spot him again.

BTW - I have not seen a single Indigo Bunting yet this year (with this possible exception).
