We got some rain this AM for the first time in well over a month. It perked up some flowers, so the bees came out. :)

I had an interesting day at a local trail. I watched a tortoise fight and found this new green lizard. I've lived in Florida for 6 years and have never seen one like this. Any ideas on id?

Very nice captures, Dan.

The tortoise shot feels "up close & personal" - very nicely done.

I know nothing about the lizard family, but that's a neat looking one. :)

Both great. Like Phil I now nothing of lizards......none up here/only salamanders and newts.
Fighting terrapins! How cool is that to see.

They go at it pretty hard. I'm lazy about video, but I really should have made the effort.

Apparently the lizard I found is called a Knight Anole.

Knight Anole Facts

The lizard species is the largest species in the Dactyloidae family.
Males have a larger size as compared to females.
The adult species have the total length about 13-20 inches including their tail.
These are also able to fade their skin with the surroundings.
They are unable to stand in the low temperature or in winters.
These are the non-venomous species and rarely bites.

Apparently they were introduced to Florida, but are native to Cuba

Been a while, but here's an image from my trip Kruger National Park last weekend. These are burchell's zebra.

What a difference two (2) weeks makes....

Shot 8/4/19 & 8/18/19.

My buddy stopped by the nest on 8/17 & he had branched & was out exploring the nest tree. Wifey & I went back on8/18 & after looking & looking, we finally heard him in an adjacent tree from which he/she flew out on this adventure. It was amazing & beautiful at the same time.

Snapped this juvenile martial eagle a couple weeks ago. Had to wait quite long for some decent shots and was reminded again what game changer this lens can be when you need to keep your camera to your eye for a long period of time.

Nice work and dedication! How long were you waiting to get the shots? The 500PF almost feels too light sometimes, in the sense that because you aren't using a heavy super tele, that there's no possible way for this lens to get the results that it does.

BTW, Charles, I started following you in Instagram... wow.

The super humid weather has finally relented, and it was actually chilly this morning! Fall is on the way, and I can't wait. This time of year, the late summer, is probably my least favorite time of the year to bird, I just don't have any luck getting anything to show itself in the open. Lot of no-hitters up until migration starts here in a few weeks. I've been anxious to get out and shoot over the past few weeks though, so I'll take what I can get.

These are Eastern Towhee... a very juvenile female, and a hearty male showing me it's rump:

Oh man... those Towhees look great on the iMac screen, Matt! I first saw them on my phone.

Congrats on the cooling weather - not that I'm *&%$ing jealous or anything. :)

Thanks Matthew! To answer your question, I'm not sure I know how long I waited. One of the things I love about photography is how I get lost in the moment and time just whizzes by.
