Just before the storm came.

The nice thing about the D500 as compared to the 7DII, is that I don't have to worry about blowing the highlights beyond repair, or losing the shadow areas or losing color when contrast is high or light is not ideal. My 400DOII will now mostly remain in the closet until Canon comes with a (mirrorless) 7DIII...

I really like this one Chris.

I think all of us that have used both brands and made 100% effort with both, totally understand what you have observed. The good news is that it will only get better! :)

The D500 really opened a new door for me, as compared to the 7DII. That door was the world of (what i thought was) "crummy light" shooting. The D500 seems to really rock on days that I may have stayed home before.

Just curious, have you attempted to AF Fine Tune (AFMA) the D500 w/ the 500PF + TC? I found that while my 500PF needed nearly no adjustment, when I added the TC It jumped from something like "+2" to "+10'. I don't recall the exact offset, but it was a good bit more with the TC.

FWIW, I do not recommend the Nikon "Auto" AF Fine Tune. I read a LOT before taking the plunge to the dark side and just about all of the respected writers said to aviod the Auto AF Fine tune and use a traditional method (DotTune, FoCal, LensAlign, etc.).

Keep up the good work. I'm eager to see more shots from your side of the world. :)

Anyone else that host their images on Flickr notice that EXIF data is not coming thru when embedding images this week?

The data is there. It shows on Flickr and if I host the image on POTN, but if I embed images as I've been doing for quit some time this (and other) servers indicate "No EXIF data"...????....

W T F ? !

When things get scarce, I can always count on the Hermit Thrush to buoy me until warmer months arrive.

These guys, unlike the Black Phoebe's are hella skittish. When they start moving, your focus better already be locked on! Lol!

What a privilege finding this! Was it just by chance, or was it fairly easy to spot?

It was special and totally by chance. :)

We were walking down a path and you could hear hummers buzzing the area. At first I said to me wife "some dumbsh*t is flying a drone" - they were that loud. Then, I saw a hummer flying directly towards me and then shot into the tree that we just happened to be walking by. Viola - there is was!

It was really hard to get a clear shot to it & I didn't want to disturb them. Theresa got a shot of the nest on another pass, when it was empty. It was literally the size of a gold ball.
