a pic of my sensor. Well a photo of the sky at f/8 and lowered exposure by a tenth of a stop. A few spots - no problem, but I don't like that smudge that resembles a poor attempt at cleaning with a Q-Tip or something.

Comments?

Will send photo to retailer tomorrow and document that I want it cleaned with my warranty at some point.

Hard to say what that is. Have you got a Rocket Blower? Might just blow right off?

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Rocket blower is the best first step. I have a 5Dc with a huge scratch on the sensor and you barely ever notice it unless shooting with high depth of field (which you generally need for macro unfortunately). The 100mm 2.8 L IS is great.

Hey gang, I have a Canon usb cable and although Lightroom recognizes my 5D as a source for importing - it does not show any images to import.

I want to keep my CF card in the slot as often as possible to preserve the pins, ... but did I read hints correctly that Lr does not support importing from the 5Dc?

Had to instead put the CF card into a reader.

Formatted my card in camera - Lightroom still does not see any photos when using usb cable - yet sees my 5D as a source for import.

Any ideas?

Hmm. Odd then. Thank-you.

I noticed it used the same 7D mkii folder so maybe it got confused. I'll format the card for the 5D and see what happens.

Mac or PC? Just wondering if you are able to see the pictures if you go to MY Computer and go into the camera/CF card that way? Just to make sure you can see them, and then you’ll know it’s something with LR specifically,

Yes I can see the 5D folder when I connect to my PC.

What is also strange - is that in the 5D Menu - I select Communication: and it was defaulted to Print - but - when I change it to PC Connect - my PC does not acknowledge my 5D.

What is Communication/PC Connect for then?

My Firmware is 1.1.1, so it is good.

Which version of LR and have you ever been able to import directly?

Per this list, some newer versions don’t allow tethering to the 5D, which includes for import. I had LR CC, but it shows version 5. My firmware is also 1.1.1

Lr6 and during troubleshooting I tried the usb cable with my 7D2 and worked fine for importing.

Likely have to use the CF in a reader which increases likelihood of pin issues...

Curious as to what showes up in windows explorer, assuming you use windows, when you plug the camera in, if anything. Maybe you need a device driver. Wild guess. I don't use windows on a regular basis so have to blow the cobwebs off old memories. :-)

I always use the SD card in my 7D2 just so I don't have to remove the CF card. Defective design. Pins should be on the card like an IDE hard drive IMHO. My CF card is set up as overflow and as such has never been written to.
