As I have my eye on the new Canon 70-200 f/4 L IS Version II and using Lightroom 6, I am at a crossroads. No Lens Profile Correction updates for my old bought and paid for Lightroom 6. It's getting close to that time to go Lightroom Classic CC.
Yes I will have to pay every month, just like cable and my phone, but hey, that's life.
Is it more like "What took me so long?"
Just thinking out loud.

Yes, you achieve what Adobe is hoping for, you think nothing of it, because "It's only $10 each month...three cappuchinos at Starbucks

No I'm very happy with it. I like the new features like the improved Auto Tone, Range Mask, the New Colour profiles and where they live now which includes DeHaze is. I paid for the whole year so as not to be reminded every month.

The cancel plan button is easy to get to and I can always re-install LR6 and CS6. You can get all the older versions at Adobe and as long as you have your licence code it is good to good to go.

I’m also happy with it. Been subscribing since it was released pretty much. Always have new features and functionality. Had one hiccup when they flipped to LR classic but that was fixed quickly. The cost is a small portion of the overall investment I have annually in this hobby.

I jumped directly from LR4/PSCS5 to CC almost exactly two years ago. I got a new computer with a 5K monitor, which I love almost as much as Lr for photography BTW, and knew going in I would need to upgrade for the HiDPI support. I have to say prior to the Lr7 release cycle that HiDPI support wasn't brilliant, it's not hugely better now, but has more interface size options now. Of course for me many of the new features that I like were in Lr6. Do like dehaze quite a bit though, and the new Sensei based Auto tone is good for when my daughter uses my DSLR, as it saves quite a bit of processing work. Is it worth it? I would say so, even without the need for HiDPI support.
