Right on my friend. Always nice to chat with someone local. What lenses would you recommend. I do have a kit lens that came with my t1i years ago, however I would really like my photos to pop. Also, anyone trying to make it as a photographer will obviously have a nice gear collection, but I am honestly just starting out as I've always had a good eye for photography and enjoyed it as a hobby, but I would like to start to make a name for myself in this field. If I can land this gig, I will be able to network myself and hopefully start landing jobs shooting bands and live arts! As always thank you for your replies!
cheers

Nice to meat you Joe. My name is Mike & I cover sports for The Latrobe Bulletin. It's hard for me to recommend a lens/lenses because I have no idea what the venue might look like or the access you might be granted (how close or how far you will be from the action). You will probably be shooting in low light situations for the E-games and you will definitely have challenging lighting situations if you want to shoot bands and performing arts. This is the reason I recommended the full frame 6D. I own 3 lenses that are fantastic for the price, they are already geared for low light, + added to a full frame would just increase their ability. I love the Canon 50mm F/1.8. Great in low light and only $125!!! I have/love the 24mm F/2.8 pancake lens and it's only $150!! I also have/love (really love) the 85mm F/1.8 and it's only around $350!!! It's a great lens. This combo gives you a variety of coverage, low light ability, great image quality, and all for around $600.. A zoom will allow you to not change lenses, but to get a good zoom with low light quality will definitely cost you more than $600, a lot more. All 3 of those lenses have great reviews on B&H, check them out. Keep me posted. BTW I just ordered the 6D, it will be here Thursday.
