Grizz1 Goldmember More info | Looks like Sumac to me. Nice photo with red color. It often is not this bright of red in my area, more rusty color. The leaves are a beautiful red early in fall, one of the first to turn colors and also fall off quickly. Steve

David, there may be more than 30 variations of this woody plant around the world, I think it is "smooth sumac", to be more precise. I have it on one of my farms where we have set aside 50 acres for wildlife, it mixes in well with milk weed and other small native plants, also much of it grows wild here along roadsides. I've noticed on my place it provides cover, birds eat on it at times, rabbits eat bark from it in winter and White Tailed deer love to rub their antlers on it in the fall. Steve
