The interview was with a couple of photographers, and the glass being discussed were the new RF lenses.

Yeah, but camera's have come a long way since the days of film and people don't compare what a new camera can do with something from decades ago, but with other, similar camera's of the day.

Not from what I see and hear.

I know several photographers that compare new cameras and new lenses with old cameras and old lenses.

Here's a Canon 5D mk ii with a 1960s 55mm 1.2 FL lens. I think it gives a very desirable look to flower blossom photos.

Canon has always had a price point higher than Sony, even the 6D2 was over priced when it came out. That is Canon in general, and nothing to do with the EOS-R.

Depends on location. I bought 6D II at launch here in Aus for $2300 AUD but my A7III was $3000 at launch. Some stores had it for $2800 but the wait time was months long.

EOS R a pro camera in relation to the single card slot?

I've heard several photographers say they would never get a single card camera like the EOS R, and considered it non-professional for that reason. After reflection today on the camera's capabilities, I think those photographers may be missing something.

Presently, I don't do high-cost weddings. But if I were doing weddings for $5000 worth of photography, I think I'd be a fool not to use a Canon EOS R if it was available and within my budget. Not as the main camera, but for extra photos or a 2nd shooter. If this camera's low light focusing and functioning is as good as reported, it seems that more good photos may be lost through omission than the rare malfunction of a single card, which I've never experienced. Assuming the most critical must-haves are done with a dual card camera.

....

So is crop glass and L glass working on the same adapter from canon

This was an unexpected bonus that is VERY attractive to me.
When I travel and want to go one body, I am often torn and end up packing 7D2 simply because it will let me use lenses like the 18-135mm STM.

With the EOS R I can have all the low light FF goodness of the 5D4, in a smaller package, AND use my super flexible little EF-S lenses when i need that.
18-135, 50mm 1.8 STM and that could be an entire vacation. If wildlife enters into it, one more long zoom and done.
With the 5D4 I have to pack a fat arse 24-70mm AND still be way short on the long end. I can add my 135mm f/2 (I usually do, because I can't live without it) but now I am packing two lenses each larger than the one I am trying to replace.

For some, these COULD be reasons to chose the R over the 5D4;

- Less money
- More portable body
- Much more portable and flexible lens options with EF-S.

No, I said if I had to buy RF glass at the current asking prices, then I would just get an A9 and native glass, it would probably be cheaper, and no issues with adapters. :)

I almost jumped on a lightly used A9 yesterday for $3300, but then thought perhaps I might find these a bit less here in coming days.

Looking forward to your impressions!

Worth remembering that you would be getting ~12MP photos with the EF-S lenses though (as they'll only cover around 1/2.6th of the sensor area).

Careful, if we start bandying about the "pro" word, this thread will soon jump the shark :)

Yes, I am aware. 12 MP for the sort of shots I would want with that lens should do just nicely. it's back to 5D4 classic MP,. or 2 to 4 more MP than the tens of thousands of images I took with my old 1D2 and 1D3.

I have one question, is someone could answer it I would appreciate it very much

The EOS R corrects distortion (and more) with the RF lenses in real time, as you shoot. My question is, if I use an EF lens -like the 16-35 f/2.8 III- with the EF-RF adapter, will the EOS R correct it in the final image within the camera?

Actually. from what I've read the largest crop the EF-S lenses might do is Super-35mm (just slightly longer from APS-C Canon crop). That would mean the crop would be getting closer to 20MP.
