Canon EOS5D MKII (or similar Canon full frame.)

Canon MPE65mm Macro

AND

Nissin MF18 Flash?

Would be interested in thoughts on the Nissin MF18 and any results you may want to show? I use the camera and MPE65 hand held / tripod and 1x and 2x results are not bad.
Any more than 2x and Mr shoogliehands takes over, or it's too dark. Hence the flash interest, can't justify the Canon Macro flash unit at $1000 odd, but have seen some good review of the Nissin unit.

Thanks in advance.

I have had the MF18 for years but now use a Yongnuo MF24ex on my MPE65mm. The Yongnuo is also 1/3 the price of the Nissin.

Thanks for the link Rick, I have heard of that brand befor, but not in connection with Macro flash. Looks possibly a little more flexible than the Nissin, is it?
Rob.

It is more flexible, you just have to work out a good solution for diffusion as you should work any system
I have been very happy with mine and wouldn't hesitate to get another should this one fail

Hi Rick, after your suggestion, I ordered a Yongnou flash it was 1/3rd the price of the Nissin.
Not had it more than a couple of days, so not done much more than open the box. It looks well made.
I'll be looking to carry out some testing at the weekend.
Cheers for your fourpenceworth.
