What do you think of the "real world" Fuji X-T3 high ISO image quality? What about the noise reduction on the skin tones?

It doesn't seem to be much of an improvement from the X-T2 (for stills) other than the slight bump in resolution.

From DPReview's sample gallery:

Well, I rarely shoot over ISO 400 so what happens after that is of little consequence.
Just sayin'.

All modern digital cameras should look clean at ISO 400...

Agreed.

What I've never seen however, is a need to shoot at ISO 6400 or 12800 and wonder if people realize just how sensitive those ISO readings are to light.

I think most I have used was 3200 and that was experimenting on the Milky Way.

Fujifilm have said there is no reduction in the noise at high ISO over the previous model despite the increase in resolution. Although having clean high ISO is really nice 12800 is, for me, about all I'll ever need so I'm happy with them lowering the base ISO by a bit.

X-PRO2 file at 12800ISO [1/100 F/4] raw file no editing just imported into Lr

You must not shoot a very broad variety of subjects if this is your stance.

Try shooting with a long lens at any sporting event on a cloudy day.

I have to agree with the above "Try shooting with a long lens at any sporting event on a cloudy day". For me it's early morning dawn or dusk with my 100-400 - this brings some serious need for High ISO to get the shutter speeds I need for some wildlife I like to shoot. The Fuji is the only system I can get away with 6400 & 12800 at times.

Your 7d needs to have a 5dmk4 brother. That'll make your 6400 and 12800 effortless shooting in fact shoot higher ISO than that as long as you do not underexpose.........only issue is that you'll loose reach with the 5dmk4.

If your seeking improved AF with similar high iso capabilities as the X-t2 you can go for the X-T3.

Are you in the employ of Canon Alan? Or did a Fuji toting photographer steal your girlfriend or something? Just every chance you get you post really negative comments about your experience shooting a Fuji. Like post after post on loads off different threads, even when no one is talking about them. I mean what gives with that?

I getting an X-T3 on Monday but only for a short time so if anyone what’s to know anything ask away and I’ll do my best to answer.

Kim, I hope I'm not negative indicating that experimentation should be done with more modern tech/sensors. He has a bag of Canon lenses that would be fully compatible with a different Canon FF! He says he cannot get away with ISO 6400 or 12800 assuming he is talking about his 7D. He can easily obtain amazing images with the lenses he owns. He owns two Camera systems and you do not have an option. If he genuinely wanted to improve IQ with his Canon gear it's a matter of changing the Canon body. Making a judgement call on a system without renting/testing more modern tech is not a fair assessment.

Kim, tell me your thoughts on the X-t3.

I don't know what made me think of that.

That's very damned impressive right there.

All said with tongue in cheek Alan, but by all means be negative or not, it's a forum. But it not just this post as was my point, it's most posts I see. Just an observation with a friendly dig attached so, do you work for Canon? :p

'He' mentioned that Fuji is good at high ISO - relative to the OP's question. I don't believe his question was should I spend thousands more on a big camera with an old outdated sensor like the 5D4 for a possible one stop cleaner ISO setting that I might rarely need or buy a $1500 camera with the latest sensor with great AF that has 100% coverage. But yes I'd say everyone on here will say [has said] go rent before you buy as that makes sense. As the two+ year old sensor in the 5D4 is out of date by now (a la your GFX argument).

On a side note (again) I have other cameras that I shoot with, some small (Fujis) some a lot bigger and even some that shoot raw video so I do have plenty of options, I just happen to enjoy shooting with Fuji for most things as it's enjoyable to shoot with and very capable with that as I think I have demonstrated with lots of images.

A picture speaks a 1000 words, especially when talking about high ISO values.
