Was out just prior to sunset walking my dog and saw this GHO sitting exposed in a pine tree. Ran home and got my camera and when I returned, it was gone. Not to be discouraged, I saw a disturbance in the grass and out flew the owl to the same branch...got'em.

I find owls spellbinding, and this is a fantastic capture, Daniel.

Alas, I have never seen owls in the wild.

Beautiful shot. Such a common bird, comparatively so rarely seen!

It certainly paid off fetching the camera and going back to look for the bird. Nice light, awesome pose/eye contact from the bird, and the techs are well handled. A step to either side to get that branch away from his head/ear tufts would have been perfection. Overall nicely done.
