Hey all. I’m a wedding photographer and in need of a new wireless trigger setup

What I am after..

Must be radio, not optical
I don’t need lots of fancy groups etc
I just need to be able to control the flash power from the transmitter
Hoping to spend $100 to $200

Thanks very much

Maybe I’m old fashioned... I just need more info than provided. What brand and model lights do you have today.

Are they even controllable from a wireless trigger. Are simple groups OK as you just may need different levels of power for different lights.

Check with your brands manufacturer if they have these transmitters with the desired capability. Then check on third party suppliers.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. I had some cheap triggers that would continually false trigger and were only useful to 1/160 or I would see the curtain. I moved up to Radio Popper Jr's thinking it was a major step up. Had issues with them not firing, and battery life sucked. Now I have Pocket Wizard Plus IV/III Receivers and triggers. just finished a wedding and had zero flash issues. Yeah I paid more, but I paid for piece of mind as well

Lesson learned.

Do you need HSS? TTL? Are you integrating speedlights with studio strobes? If so, what brand of studio strobe? Are you using your existing speedlights (430EX and 600EX-RT?) Do you want to use Canon's RT system?

Is all your gear Canon? Or are you sharing with a mirrorless system or a Nikon shooter?

How important is reliability/build quality? Customer service? Warranty repair?

Is your $100-$200 budget per trigger? Or for the entire system? For how many lights?

And, last but not least, what's your old triggering system and why do you need a new one?

The only way to control power from the trigger is to have a system that offers communication between the camera trigger and the remote trigger that includes the flash units.

That, by definition, means a vendor specific or at least technology specific system.

As mentioned, a lot depends on the lights you currently own.

Simply put, first look to the manufacturer of your lights to see if they have a trigger system that supports your camera.

Looking at your signature, it appears that you have bought into the Canon speedlite system. The 600RT and its supporting triggers are the best place to start.
