I hope this isn’t too much of a big downer, but unfortunately my health is declining rapidly and I have very little time left, probably a matter of days.

This decline has happened so rapidly that it has left us a little flat-footed on some things.
Believe me, end-of-life issues can be overwhelming.

I have the following equipment, plus much more to get rid of.
All my equipment is babied and is in perfect shape. I should have perfect boxes for everything.

Unfortunately I work alone and don’t have any camera buddies I can call on. So I’m wondering if any members in the Idaho Boise Valley may be interested in any of the equipment. Or perhaps an Idaho based photography club that could help my wife with pricing, sorting, etc.
Other than that, I’m thinking that my wife can box everything up and send it to KEH. Does anyone think under the circumstances that this is a poor decision? Will they sort it for her and price it honestly?

Plus some Paul Buff lighting: Einstein as new, 3 units of White Lightning with very little use. Other small stuff.
Some soft boxes, light stands, Pelican cases, high grade filters etc., etc., etc.
I’m sure that you get the picture.

If you want to call, please PM me for my number.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Mike, I am so sad to hear this terrible news :(

It's been some time, but in the past I have found K.E.H. to be a great company to deal with. However, the idea of what is a fair price will vary a lot.

K.E.H. has to make a profit selling the used gear to the same customers that can buy here in the buy and sell forum or ebay etc... so they have to pay a lot less than what we would consider "the going used rate" to make it worth their while. A lot less.

I would suggest that boxing and shipping to KEH will be the easiest thing for your wife to do,. no concern or hassle with buyers, ship all to one place etc.
For that peace of mind I would expect that KEH will pay probably only about 25% what the going rate is. Maybe less. I could be wrong, like I said it's been a while.

If you are looking to make this as easy as possible, that would be my suggestion. I'd call them directly.

If you are looking to maximize your return, then another option might be preferable.

You can get KEH to quote this list via phone, or online;

Thank you, Jake.
Yes, I'm aware of the big price hit. Just looking for options for my wife.
Trying to piece it out and sell here would be too much a hassle for her.
There is no real rush after I'm gone. Just trying to tie up as many loose ends as possible.
Thank you for your help.

I’m sorry to hear and my heart goes out to you, and your loved ones. We just recently lost my mother in law over the course of a year long battle with cancer. I’m truly sorry

Pinto, please accept my sympathy for your situation.

POTN has other members in Idaho, maybe near enough that they could help your wife with the work of disposing of the equipment. If you post in the Member Activities forum, your request might reach some who don't regularly look at Classifieds.

It speaks well for you that you're concerned about easing her burden at this time.

My thoughts go out to you and family as well. You would get the most return by piecing things out and selling yourself, but that requires effort. KEH is probably a good resource (if your family doesn't hear from a POTN member in Idaho). I would not deal with Adorama (used department, their sales are very reputable). One time I tried getting a rough estimate of my used equipment over the phone. They gave me estimates of each item. When I sent them in, they claimed they weren't paying me for most the items because they were no longer in production. Before I could get my items sent back to me, they said they had already been sold.
