Greetings all.

I am wondering what are your best resources for professional level tutorials and information that you are willing to share.

I have been listening to the "The Wandering DP" podcast and grabbing bits and pieces of information off youtube but I have been operating a video camera commercially for about 4 years. I sip coffee and watch Vimeo staff picks everyday to pickup ideas. I have been editing together a slew of personal projects that I have not shared, just trying to get a better grasp of the technical process.

I want to learn broader skills and the professional side of the business so my shooting can continue to improve but I also want to better understand the entire market so that I can promote new services.

Professionals, where is your community, a forum, reddit, youtube? Help me branch out of my small little box :D

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks
Erik

For answering one-off how-do-I-do-this questions I’m turning to google, youtube, and adobe. Usually all off google searches.

For tutorials, mostly lynda.com. I’m fortunate to have free access two ways, my local (county) library system, and through work. Sometimes adobe.

For community, it’s a little harder. Quality is down, ignorance is up, and trolling is up on many online forums in my opinion. Not so much on POTN! Yay. My video favorites are dvinfo.net/forum and dvxuser.com. Dealing with facebook groups is difficult for me, I guess I’m not in step, but they do exist and are heavily used.

For what it’s worth!

Thank you for the feedback Sailing away. I will certainly check out those pages and your not alone regarding facebook groups!

gewb, I am using almost strictly Davinci Resolve. I had a couple years using premier some time ago, a lot of time with Vegas (a very long time ago) and a bit of final cut when forced.

Thanks

Erik

Ah, thanks. Can't help much as I really haven't dived into Resolve other than play with it for a year. Keep us posted on what you find!

Regards,
GEWB

I forgot (haven’t been active there for a few years):
creativecow.net

Regarding Resolve:
Blackmagic has their own forums (fora?)
Also bmcuser.com, a splinter from dvxuser
