Interested in people’s thoughts on this.

I have certainly been hoping one of the camera manufactuers would produce a basic camera, I wasn’t expecting Zeiss to step up though.

Looks to have a good lens and a reasonable sensor, although details seem sketchy at the moment.

If the price is right I’d certainly be interested.

It's fascinating to me that Zeiss is making a fixed lens camera,. when their bread and butter is selling lenses. (well, as for photography anyway)

There have been a few high end fixed lens bodies in the past. Sigma, Sony, Leica, etc.
Can't remember how many were full frame.

I feel like it's been a while since anyone has shook up that market.

They must OEM the camera part, who could it be? Nikon, Sony?
I'm always interested in a lightweight "art" camera.

Being Android driven I imagine they'd be looking beyond the camera.
Team up a tablet, suitable software and voila!
Especially one with a stylus.

I wonder how much it will attract attention to serious photographers as opposed to media stuff, instant must have this shot and let's share it generation.
Realise that's what these do with smartphone, but the well heeled could see them as must haves.

I could see this having 2 differing types of users.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Lightroom integration. My first thought when hearing that was, "I wonder if this camera is going to cost $10/month?" I went to the product page and wasn't disappointed.

"Process your images from anywhere in-camera with this intelligent solution: from exposure and color corrections to selective edits, syncing to Lightroom CC on your computer and much more (some features require a Creative Cloud Photography plan subscription)."

I wonder if "some features" are things like syncing or things like advanced editing features (i.e. curves)? Anyway, it's an interesting feature. I like the idea of being able to do basic edits in camera but I don't want it from Adobe.

And still no sign of a price or a release date.

Zeiss’ full-frame Android camera is available to preorder for $6,000

I didn't notice this thread at the time, but I saw a recent headline about it in technology news.

The Zeiss ZX1, a unique camera that was announced more than two years ago before the company essentially stopped talking about it, may actually be in customers’ hands at some point in the near future. As noted by DPReview, B&H Photo has sent out emails saying that it’s coming soon and is now available to preorder for $6,000. It was originally supposed to be released in early 2019.

Article I read is HERE (external link), with additional links to source(s).
