I suggest having Maureen be the initial host of the new game. She's gotten us this far down the path.

Stiga, I think it is fine if you use your black & white version of the hosting rules.... or anything else that works for you as long as the wording is the same. I also don’t mind posting both versions in the Sticky so people can choose which one they prefer because they will both say the same things.

I will give this thread until Sunday for any further input & then post the sticky in competitions on Monday after the other 2 challenges are done. Then I will lock them & leave a message about the new Challenge.

I changed tge rules so commenting on each entry is not required. I would like to keep the voting restricted to the participants because that could get out of hand if we allowed anyone & everyone to comment......

Now I'm confused. Why mention voting restrictions if the host is judging?-?

I should have clarified that if we used the voting option

The Small Compacts challenge won't be done until Thursday, 10/25. The G challenge ends on Monday, but a grace period would be nice. We often discuss photos after the judging. Sometimes photos get Likes afterward, too, and we can't give Likes in a locked thread. So could you please hold off locking for a few days after each of those challenges closes?

If we all put as much effort into entering the new challenge as we did discussing the rules, it should be a good one.:-)

The version below includes my suggestions for the template that Maureen posted where she asked for input. This is only for the template for hosts to post in the actual challenge. Maureen, for the sticky about hosting, there are things I'd like to consult you about by PM. Is that OK? I may not get to it today.

Much of what was in the Photo Submissions section was also in the instructions near the top. I've condensed this and renamed Photo Submissions as Rules.

For reference, Maureen's original version is at the end of the post.

---------------

Remember, if you post a photo, you may be the winner. Be prepared to host and judge a new challenge.

To submit, click the button labeled "POST TO THREAD" and put your photo title in the first line of the post, above your photo. Your camera brand and model must appear in the post. Include additional EXIF data, if you like.

Enter just one photo.

Post until Monday noon GMT, Day Month Year.

Rules

  1. Camera: Any fixed-lens camera, all brands and models. Cell phones are also included. No DSLRs!

  2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible except photos that have won other POTN competitions. I ADDED "POTN" HERE. DO WE WANT IT?

That looks fine, OhLook. I was just about to sit down & make any changes so we have our Sticky finalized so you saved me the chore. And yes, please PM me whatever you like. I am about to be off for the afternoon doing photo shoots (yes, I still am doing several shoots most weeks) so i will not be able to repond until tonight.

Thanks, Maureen. I don't need to know as soon as tonight. Hosting instructions aren't needed for a while yet.

Does anyone have preferences about the two things where I wrote notes in green?

A couple of points were discussed in this thread and not settled. (1) Exclude (large?) watermarks along with borders? (2) Forbid giving Likes until after judging?

Maybe delete the numbers for items in Rules, just to simplify things?

Looks good.

My input:

1. Exclude winners from ALL previous competitions (i.e. same as before)

2. Keep rule numbers for reference purposes

3. Specifically forbid "Likes"
