I was thinking of doing Jets, but a trip to the museum had a juxtaposition, so I've gone with that...

That's a CANNON, you are shooting with a CANON :p
Sorry joeseph, I couldn't resist!

I agree with Levina about shooting something that has already been posted, but interpretation is up to each one of us.

I understand these challenges to include thinking of potential photos that fit the theme, whether alphabetical or not. That is, choosing a subject is part of the exercise of creativity. I don't really have to avoid jam just because teekay filled the jam slot, but any jam pics after his would lose the element of surprise.

"element of surprise"?
Really?
Interesting.

Interesting interplay between past and present. The background left me confused until I sorted things out.

thanks - I liked the mix of colour on the black & white soldier images behind, a bit like a selective colour photograph. entirely unplanned!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Serendipitous Js

IMAGE: http://community.netidea.com/teekay/temp/J's.jpg
While looking for Joy, Jumpers, or Juveniles this morning I was approached by this smiling pair who started a rather awkward conversation. We're a friendly lot in our town but they didn't look like locals, so I had an inspiration and asked, "Are you by any chance Jehovah's Witnesses?". They were! "You've made my day", I said, (something they admitted they didn't hear very often). I explained my photographic mission, asked if I might take their photo, and they gave permission, so here it is. No great shakes as portraits go, but I couldn't resist.

They look biologically related. I might even say inbred if it weren't likely to offend.

I don’t agree with you, OhLook. . . . the originality lies in how you shoot the jam and not in the picking of the subject.

All right, then . . .

White chocolate famously has no chocolate flavor. How can they imitate that? Is there an artificial version of "tastes like nothing"?

A collection of J's. These are just a few of the several hundred Japanese amateur radio operator cards I've received over the years. It's always fun to swap cards for completed contacts.
