Hopefully I picked the right place to post this.

I'm an aviation air-to-air photographer. I started doing this years ago and have upgraded my equipment many times over the years. Most recently I've been using a Canon 5D4 and a 70-200 2.8 IS II. I decided to pull the trigger on the 1DX2 I've always wanted.

I've always been a big fan of B&H. I once thought I needed a 6D. It didn't work well for me and they took it back with no questions. I hear a lot of local photographers (Austin, TX) that say we should support our local shop, but I'm not going to do this if it cost me a lot of money. In this case, the 1DX2 which is normally $5999 was $5499 and they don't charge tax, which saved me another $500.

I ordered the camera and an extra battery and after my buyer's remorse settled down enough to let me sleep, I went to bed and dreamed about my new toy that would soon be on the way.

I woke up the next day to find out my card didn't go through. It turned out my credit card company was concerned about such a high charge. No problem, I would just order it again. Except... the price was now back up to $5999! Arggg....

I called B&H and a guy named Rocky answered. I explained what happened and he said he would see if he could get me the lower price. He put me on hold for awhile and checked back in once to let me know he was still working on it and hadn't forgotten me. Then he came back on the line and told me he got me the price I wanted!

I know a lot of you already use them, but if you don't, you should! Thanks Rocky and the B&H team. Now I'm just waiting anxiously for the Beast to arrive.

Good for you and B&H for understanding. FYI, you could likely do the same with Adorama. Sometimes a deal pops up elsewhere, but you want the confidence of buying from a familar source. They actually have a VIP loyalty program that gives a price matching guarantee and also free extended warranty. On big ticket items, the added value of being able to call them really makes a difference.

Yes. Years ago I started using B&H and I've never had a reason to look elsewhere. Outstanding prices and service.

B&H is my favorite store for ANYTHING electronic. And the best part is I think they have some special deal with UPS and FEDEX because if I order something from B&H it arrives YESTERDAY. Yes that fast.

A friend told me a visit to the store in NYC is a good bucket list item LOL.

Prices, Service, quick delivery, help after the purchase, etc. You can't go wrong with B&H. I feel bad when I buy something locally that I could have ordered from them LOL. I was in BEST BUY to get something and it was not in stock there. They said we can order it for you, I just showed him my iPhone screen as I clicked ORDER from B&H. Had it the next day.

Flynlow, it's good to read positive feedback. All too often we hear the negative views about various companies but in this busy world it is easy to ignore taking the time to praise the positive transactions. I have not purchased from B&H before but will at some point I'm sure.
Hoping you enjoy the new camera when it arrives, would like to see the results you get with it.

Long time B&H fan here. And yes, the NYC store is a must see.

Got an email from them today saying they'll finally be collecting state sales tax for all states that require it. Bound to happen eventually.

You could have gotten the combo for less than $5k from another authorized dealer though.

B&H is also my favorite place to order computers and photography equipment. Their prices and customer service are always stellar.

True. Bought a Dell computer from them recently.

You are right, and it does not sound like saving another $600 means nothing as long as you get your gears from B&H over other authorized retailers.

Seems like you've been here a long time, and maybe you're trustworthy, but I don't know you. After I've made a purchase and spoken about the customer service I get from B&H, you post here and send me a private message saying you could have saved me $500 with an extra battery... sorry, but it seems sketchy. I don't believe Canon would authorize anyone to sell lower than $5500. I prefer the customer service level I get from B&H and that was what my post here was about.

Lol...I sold more than ten 1Dx II between here and Fred Miranda. If any of those people didn’t get a genuine authorized dealer receipt, you would think someone would say something by now :-(

Your money and your call though.

There's a real contrast in customer care right here, in this thread ...

Like I said, you may be legitimate, but I've never heard of you and I was reporting about good customer service I received. You're not winning me over with the attitude, but at least you're confirming that I bought from the right place.
