I've bought a number of the Tamron caps and they've worked well.

I’ve bought a bunch from Amazon. CamDesign was the brand. They usually come with a silicone band and keeper cord which I throw away. I had a lens’ finish damaged many years ago by the oil in a silicone collapsible hood. The caps are good. They stay on well and have good sized finger grip areas.

Over a dozen years ago, one could readily find center pinch caps which had 'Design for Canon' on the front. I bought a number of these back then, and have been quite satisfied with them. More recently, I had to find a replacement for one 82mm cap that had been recently lost (trip in June 2018 to France) and discovered that most now lack such front naming, as apparently Canon cracked down on unauthorized usage of the Canon name (my guess as to why the scarcity now.)
Nevertheless , I have found

a 77mm cap

Canon started to make center pinch caps, which ate into the sales of the old 3rd party caps. A bunch of caps are being sold on ebay.

I replaced all my Canon side pinch caps with generic center pinch ones from B&H. There is no difference compared to the genuine Canon which came with the EF 24-70 ll

I just did purchased one off E bay, 77mm ( Delivery from Hong Kong, Less than 2 weeks to NYC) It does have the canon logo in silver. the only thing i could see different was the canon imprint was smaller but it was a beautiful fit! the cost was 3.79 USD. I want to thank ever one who replied to my thread at this time. FYI there was no hole molded into the cap for a string keeper, solid 360 degrees.

I used to have a Tamron lens with a center pinch cap - worked really well! So why are my Canon center pinch caps such utter crap! I have them for my 100-400 Mk2, 16-35 F4 L IS and my 24-70 F2.8 L V2 and ALL of them fall off without any provocation/encouragement!

Perhaps I should replace them with Tamron caps?

This is what I purchased for my EF 24–105mm f/4L IS ( gave you the UK link) https://www.ebay.co.uk …n-Camera-SP-/332088121521 (external link)
Not really a scientific test, I installed the cap held the of the cap with two fingers over my bed and shook it. lens cover held on with no failure.

Canon caps have weak springs.

Canon caps have weak springs.

In my case they just do not grip! The older style lens caps worked perfectly - but had their limitations. The Tamron 77mm cap that I had just used bendy bits of plastic to secure it - but they worked!

With my current Canon pinch lens caps I have to put them on, check they are fully on, do a pull test and then I can put the lens in my backpack. Then I open the backpack to frequently find that they have fallen off!

I am going to have a look into the ones that Copper suggested.

Another second for the Tamron center pinch caps; I've replaced all of mine with those because they stay in place the best of any I've found.
