???

i was in a shop actually using the camera body and shooting with them? wasn't that what i wrote, that i got to try them? the whole post was about my experience using the R and 24-105 combo, first comment was literally what it felt like in my hands when i picked it up? the af box just did not go where i wanted it to go when i was using touch and drag

It's the honeymoon phase for some, just have to roll with it... :)

i think the biggest issue is me being left eye dominant, i still got old bodies that uses d-pad and it annoys me because i'd constantly hit my nose with my thumb due to how my face is positioned against the body, but as the joystick is located higher up on the body that issue is gone

this is purely a usability/ergonomics issue for ME, if i was supposedly influenced by youtube videos and spec sheets i would've jumped ship a long time ago...

Using the computer operating system (e.g. File Explorer) can you navigate to the SD Card in the Card Reader and have a look to see if there are RAW files on the SD card.

If you cannot see any Raw CR3 Files in e.g. Windows Explorer, check that the EOS R is set to RAW + JPG.

I found that my Downloader Pro/ BreezeBrowser Pro apps on Win 10 cannot see the CR3 Files on the SD Card, so I used Windows Explorer to copy them from the SD Card to my Computer Drive and LR imported them just fine.

Cheers

Dennis

I did those things, including just going to the card, then tried a Windows update as mentioned in a reply of the past couple hours. Some updates could not install, but maybe some did. Upon rebooting, file folders recognize a CR3 RAW.

One difference, whereas lightroom normally had me seeing and working with RAW from my 5D mk iii and 5DS, it's still showing JPG for the EOS R but noting a "SIDECAR" RAW file.

Anyone know how to get that "sidecar" RAW to show in Lightroom.

Also, I'm using a version 6.14 or something like that, installed from disc.

all good

the way to move the af box is pretty much the only glaring issue for me at the moment, otherwise from the 20-30 mins i spent testing the body i liked it inc the 24-105 lens, the joystick on the Z7 did feel more intuitive for me moving the af box

regardless i'm still happily shooting away on my 5D4 joystick or not, i am waiting to see what canon brings with the "pro' level body or even until second gen comes out before i'd look into acquiring a R body, mainly just to see if the tech becomes more mature/refined from canon

You do tend to be derogatory ,,, seriously man..

There was nothing derogatory, it happens to most people, they buy a new toy and enjoy a period of euphoria. It is simple endorphins at work. It is also in this period they may not fully appreciate real or perceived shortcomings others may have. It is what it is, simple human nature and is affectionately called the honeymoon period. Perhaps you have never heard this before, and I apologize if not. It is also an established psychological and physiological process, I am sorry you took offense over the term.

https://www.urbandictionary.com …p?term=honeymoon%20period (external link) (minus the poor attempt at humor in the article, the basis is accurate)

Enjoy your new toy, and I certainly can see what it brings to the table for myself as well, but not during the NBA season. The pro version will likely be what I buy, but who knows. I just like to be mindful and respectful that others may not have the same perspective as those enthralled with it. I, for one, enjoy your exuberance over the EOS R, it refreshing after some of the negative reviews.

The way I look at it I should be able to flip it when the time comes.. I burned up so many 7DII's I cant believe I bought another canon. Not one of them was without flaws. And the video was so treble.

Its not the best being left eye, are faces cover the entire back of the camera, of which I like sometimes when I'm completely into what ever I'm shooting. But it means we cant open that right eye to see whats going on around us. I'm not sure what you shoot but it can be a dangerous game some time with wildlife. I've looked up from my camera to find all sorts of people and animals standing beside me that I had no idea were there. lol

This camera for me is something to enjoy for what it is.. I've used the sony's in the field both the newest ones and to use them for wildlife and the odd landscape they are no different and have their own quirky things

their not that nice to hold on to, and I found the buttons to not flow. There not the nice Dual pixel AF for video so their different to use. I dont think the viewfinder is as good to view and thats kinda big because its the part you use for every shot.

But thats just my take.. others love them. I'm not the kind of guy that likes even to put down what I did for the EOS R... thus the reason I shot the 7DII for so long. it was cheap

I wonder if anyone tweaked the AF settings or just used them as they came out of the box. a little touch up picks it up quite a bit.

I guess by posting images and talking about it im in a state of excited display... so maybe I should back it down a notch... If only I was a vloger ... I would have an outlet.

i've tried the sony's too and yes ergonomics is the biggest issue for me with those cameras, while i am sure big part of it is lack of familiarity they just don't feel good in my hands, the canon feels so much better to hold and more intuitive even with the R didn't take long for me to figure out what's what without even having to read the manual which is a great thing, for me evf looks better with the canon too

don't think specs matter much if you just don't like using it

All these comments are making me curious what the touch and drag AF is really like on this body. On the M5 I find it to be really easy and responsive to use, but not so much on my A7III.

The screen on the R is about as responsive as my iPhone 8.. very fluid and responsive. I have never used an M5 so I can't give a comparison.

7. PHOTTIX ODIN flash trigger / receivers seemed to work perfectly. This was important, because I have two sets.

That's good to know. I haven't gotten to test mine yet.

I wish I could iadjust sensitivity of the "face sensor" or whatever they call it to switch between LCD and EVF activity. I switch between both eyes, and I look through the viewfinder from a slight distance, which is just far enough to trip the sensor.

RE my post above about CR3 RAW and not being able to use or see in Lightroom, Adobe's person said the Lightroom 6 version I was using wouldn't work for those, but to try the more recent Lightroom Classic CC

That one requires Windows 10, which I downloaded last night. Still need to tweak the Lightroom part.

I think after the conversations this passed couple days I need to say I have been relaying what i'm experiancing as I go along trying different parts of the EOSR

I am not in anyway trying to build it up to be something its not and will tell it like it like I feel at the time.

I am using it daily and find new things good and bad I'm not comparing it to any other camera. I'm just using it as I go along..

So no one should run out and buy them one because of something I have said and do..

Its not perfect... the world knows that. It may not even be any good for shooting anything but fruit on a table..

But I'm giving it a try.. That is all. I still recommend anyone that is interested to put your hands on one and make the educated choice.

Take everything including me with a grain of salt... My needs may be completely different than your own.

Its an Idea we all in here seem to like... is it good enough for each individuals needs ... Most would say no.. a simple search will tell you that.

I just dont want to mislead anyone as I have my fun and share as I always do.
