Few shots from yesterday in natural light. I will say that even though it looks like i used the R in a wedding, this was not a wedding. This was a photo session after the wedding held a few days prior to contacting me for this. Apparently they didn't hire a photographer and all they had was bad cell phone pictures from their friends. Anyway i loved using the camera in a long period of time. I am getting used the controls and touch screen to the point where i am considering bringing it to a real wedding battle ground, but not yet haha..

Cherry blossom at Brookdale Park NJ

First photoshoot with Eos r coming from 6Dii. All I can say this camera has a better focusing system and sharper image.

I prefer the whole body of hair in focus. But focus may not be the entire point.

Look at the shutter speed. If that's hand held with a 135mm lens, could it explain part of the story?

Well another great point that you picked up on here. 135L's on a DSLR are going to require shutter speed to get usable consistent images. Anyone that has used a 135L will tell you 1/160 minimum with flash assist or 1/320-400 w/o flash assist for general portrait work. Thats just fact. I have used one for 12 yrs now and I know what you can and cant do with the current 135L

Seems to me that some of these common practices with primes will indeed be passed to EOS R Camera use-----UNLESS....Future bodies with IBIS will let you shoot something like a 135L at a slower shutter speed. Some of the benefits I read with Sony, which I have personally seen, is that Sony owners can go out and shoot at slower shutter speeds and 1/20 hand held to blur waterfalls w/o use of a tripod or ND Filter use is easily done. I have witnessed it for myself.

Wondering if this is NOT going to be the case with Canons EOS R ??

Hi.
Have a questions about camera, maybe someone can help me?

1. Is it possible to re-map LOCK button ? I cant find it in settings...

2. When I try to send photos from camera to my PC via Wi-Fi, transfer (in the EOS Utility) is very slow and brakes so often times due transferring that I cannot send even 1 photo to PC. After selecting images and start sending, camera just going down and I must switch it off and on again to wake it to the life. Auto-transferring is the same thing - very slow and buggy.

I had a chance to take the EOS R to a Rangers ballgame. I had the Canon EF 70-300L paired with it. I was not in the perfect location as you can see the foul ball net corner.

Timing is everything :-) It was really tough getting the perfect shot of a hit ball. Definitely FPS was not fast enough to just spray but after working on my timing I had more luck.

Curious how you were able to take your camera with you to a game, would love to do this before they move out of Globe Life.

The Rangers/Globe Life do not restrict lens size. Their policy is "equipment that might interfere with another guest's enjoyment of the game are prohibited".

I took in my EOS R, 70-300L and 16-35L in a LowePro top loader.

Yea, I was wanting to go to a couple games this year as well since this is the last year they will be in that stadium. I saw several games the first year they were in it and hope to see a couple more games before the season is gone and the prices rise in the new stadium. :-(

have you found any downsides? I am debating this lens. I am already using an EF adapter, so wondering if the RF is better than the f/2 EF.

We visited the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens and the resident pair of Australasian Grebes put on a nice show.:-)

I used a splash of on-camera flash as the birds were in deep shade and backlit.

Cheers

Here are examples of when the 1-Point AF on the EOS R "missed the mark" and appeared to lock on the very bright, specular BG and then when it did appear to lock on the eye of the Grebe. These are both 100% crops, Raw SOC images as displayed in Canon DPP V4.

The Red Square depicting the Single AF Point is the Canon DPP V4 representation of the size and position of the Single AF Point - I wonder how closely this software representation matches the actual pixels used for the actual AF Point?

Cheers

Dennis
