Huge improvement IMO. The face recognition works better and the Eye AF is a lot more consistent. Eye AF still only works when in close proximity of the subject in contrast to Sony Eye Af.
good to know. I have no experience with the sonys eye af but i do acknowledge that it is the top performing eye af out there. I honestly don't think i am using it much in the R or even at all but it's nice to know that the feature is there and it works well. I have just started to get faster at setting my focus point manually to where need it with the touch and drag. I am not used to using my back screen as a functional feature in a camera since i still use my 5d2 and 5d3 heavily. Everytime i touch the screen on the R i get reminded that "oh yeah, its a touch screen" haha
