A couple from this morning. I was forest bathing by the way. Well, not really, never heard of it until a news story locally a day ago, but it is a thing, you can google it. I've been doing it all my life without realizing it :-)

Please do not post any more of these. Everybody knows you can't use the R for BIF.

Beat me to it. BIF is #2 on the “Things the EOS R can’t do” list, right after Weddings...

It’s a very long list though. We should probably just all sell them...

Have you tried that first one in B&W? It looks like it might be well suited for it . . .

I did try it in b&w, a lot of these tree shots work well in b&w, but this one didn't. Maybe too busy, but for whatever reason, not as interesting to me.

Actually, I love the warm yellows in that pic. Would be a pity to lose them in B&W. Just my opinion of course.

That's also what I liked in the color picture, and the b&w loses that and then the sort of busy nature of those tree trunks becomes more apparent, plus I think not quite enough contrast for black and white. At least that's what I decided when trying to figure out why one photo worked and the other version didn't.

Personally speaking I find the EOS-R consistently consistent.

Great shot. And if you dont mind, what focusing settings did you use. I have been struggling with the BIFs.

Thanks. I can't say for sure because I change settings quite a bit but currently I have tracking sensitivity at 0, accel/decel tracking at 1 and AF point auto switching at 1.

I'm almost positive I was using the first of the AF point options... Face tracking mainly because you can chose an initial point to start with and then let the camera do it's stuff, especially if there's a busy background.

I find the cameras tracking's pretty good and when it does lock on the focusing's great, though the EVF lag can make following the subject interesting.

The broader focusing areas work well if you're initial grab is against a clear sky.

The main Issue I find is trying to get the initial focus, especially when the subject is smaller in the frame. Hopefully the new firmware update will address that. If it does, I think my 7Dii's time with me might be coming to an end.

Here's a few more taken before the firmware update. Nothing exotic though...
