This osprey wasn't having an easy time of it...

Incoming... And then up close and personal.

Sadly they were a long way away and these are heavy crops.

Finally managed to stitch this bugger together... Thankfully the rock hides most of the glow from the city almost directly behind it nearly 200km away

Testing out the 50 1.2. I wish they made like a 40mm 1.2 or 45mm 1.2. I just can't get myself to pay this much for a focal length I rarely use, but I probably will...wife says she likes cropped compositions like this because she doesn't like having to pinch out on her phone -_- At the same time, I guess I can use it more like an 85, but even my Nikon 58mm got little use a month or two after I got it.

Thanks. I can't say for sure because I change settings quite a bit but currently I have tracking sensitivity at 0, accel/decel tracking at 1 and AF point auto switching at 1.

I'm almost positive I was using the first of the AF point options... Face tracking mainly because you can chose an initial point to start with and then let the camera do it's stuff, especially if there's a busy background.

I find the cameras tracking's pretty good and when it does lock on the focusing's great, though the EVF lag can make following the subject interesting.

The broader focusing areas work well if you're initial grab is against a clear sky.

The main Issue I find is trying to get the initial focus, especially when the subject is smaller in the frame. Hopefully the new firmware update will address that. If it does, I think my 7Dii's time with me might be coming to an end.

Here's a few more taken before the firmware update. Nothing exotic though...

Posts earlier in this thread showed that it focuses accurately at f11 albeit a bit more slowly.
