Well, it still wouldn't qualify as a dedicated birding camera. It still struggles with initial acquisition of smaller subjects and readily jumps to clouds/trees/grass.

However, it's a whole lot better than it was! Once it grabs focus it holds on and tracks really well (I think... I'll tell you more when I download some photos)

I've not tried eye tracking yet.

The camera feels much more alive, it seems to be a very good update :-)

When it grabbed focus on a bird the keeper rate was way higher than on my 7Dii

This one has pretty heavy shadow recovery...
