I am sure extenders will come - but we're only now getting a lens that could benefit from one, no point announcing one before they can be used!

Oh yes they will. Execs at Canon all went ka-ching when they announced the RF mount.

why am i having such a hard time getting little kids walking/running towards me in focus? I recently tried servo zone and face tracking with back button focus. I have the shutter release as the priority (not focus--pretty sure focus is even worse). Any tips? These kids are coming towards me in a predictable line and it's not even that fast...!

post your setting...

Servo, zone or tracking af mode, high speed continuous, back button focus, release priority, 1/250 or faster, kids jogging towards me...by the time focus locks on its too late.

This one, from Fotodiox > https://www.amazon.com …tle_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (external link)

I encountered a good blog or forum where some Sony users shared a wide variety of adapters. Apparently there are "better" brands for up to 5 times the cost. But at least this one I acquired, is tight with no loose fit, and the images are sharp. The portrait I shared the other day taken with this lens, shows very good detail in the woman's garment, etc..

Here's another lens I just got the past two days for my EOS R. An old Nikon 105mm 2.5 AI-S .. nothing particularly grand, but I thought it would be a fun lens to try. Apparently the same lens used for the famous National Geographic cover years ago, with an Afghan girl on the cover.

Does anyone have a line on a base plate for the R, aside from SmallRig’s, that will extend the grip slightly while still following the contours of the body? I had the RRS plate for my Olympus EM1ii and was spoiled by how perfectly fitted it was...and likewise was very let down by how poorly fitting the RRS plate is for the EOS R. So if I have to get the SmallRig version then I will but figured I might ask here in case I’ve missed another option out there. Basically need more of a confident location for my pinky finger when holding the body.

Thanks!

Loving this thing. Fits in a normal bag mounted where any other normal zoom would fit. Focus is fast and silent like the other RF lenses. Needs to shoot a bit and try to get some sample images (cats, dogs, kids, trees - the usual. ;) )

While I agree, let's be honest with one another here. The real question should be, "Do they look $2000US better than my 70-200 2.8 IS G1?" My gut tells me no. YMMV.
