WiscTim Member More info | Dec 06, 2019 13:34 | #6440 h_scott_a wrote in post #18970773 I received mine today and have a question or two after turning it on and having a quick look around. ... 2) Is there a setting to turn off Live View unless the shutter button is pressed to initiate it? And set it to turn off again after a period of no activity? Live view is constantly on by default straight out of the box on mine (of course it switches to the EVF when put up to the eye but goes right back to live view when pulled away) and I'm guessing that contributes to the IS running issue. Neither of these can be good for the battery life...right? Not to mention wear on the IS system in the lens. ... Along with the power settings mentioned by robamy and crofter, you can also use the INFO button to select what is on the LCD screen. There are four options for live view with various levels of settings and an option to just show settings, similar to what is on the back of Canon's DSLR's. C&C always welcome, editing allowed

I had a Sony A6000 for a while. The shutter freeze/lag takes some getting used to and also just seeing in the EVF in bright light. Lots of unfamiliar ground here. Here are two files I took, both with minimal processing. They both look pretty sharp to me!! Surprisingly, it did a decent job of focusing on the subject despite lots of obstructions, branches etc for most shots. My 5DIV constantly struggles with this, as opposed to my 7DII which does a better job than the 5DIV. I missed focus on a lot today but it nailed quite a few despite difficult conditions. The hawk was in a tangle of trees and branches. That photo is about a 75% crop and the other one is just about a 25% crop. Few birds were airborne today so the BIF will have to wait until another day. Not too bad for a first day out with it. These were taken in two different places BTW. Dec 06, 2019 20:46 | #6450 I need to stop coming back to POTN. Every 6-8 months or so I pop back in here to see what is going on and it ends up costing me more money. 7Dmk2, Tokina 12-24 f/4, Canon EF-S 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, Canon 70-200 f/4L IS, Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS III, Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2, a few other cheap lenses, lots of little stuff, flashes, stands, and almost enough brains to be considered dangerous
