Pulled the trigger on a second EOS R body with he deal through B&H. Sale, special “private” offer, and a $25 gift card I had collecting dust and it came out to $1276.13 - oh, and they are also throwing in free overnight shipping so it’s will be in hand tomorrow.

Can’t beat that deal with a stick!

I wish. Here in the UK, it's £2149 for body + basic EF adaptor bundle, that's $2820 US at current exchange rates. Even the "grey import" market only gets down to £1369 ($1795 US) + shipping charges. Canon UK are not giving the quoted 20% loyalty discount either (mentioned by another poster), not that it makes it even remotely comparable to US prices if they did.

A question for EOS-R owners with EF telelenses:

Has anyone noticed "jumps" in the viewfinder with IS on?
I recently got the EOS-R for use with the EF400DOII + 2.0TC, and at random (not all the time but often) as soon as IS is active (which is always when the viewfinder is active) and I try to hold the camera/lens steady with the shutter halfpressed for servo AF, the image in the viewfinder will make totally random little jumps or jolts left/right or up/down. At times there are pronounced jumps to the left and back again. Usually, when switching the lens IS from mode 1 to 2 and back again, it disappears and I get the familiar quiet and stable viewfinder image. But then after switching the camera off/on it may re-appear randomly, and even when holding perfectly still, the images moves around a bit with little jumps. When it got very pronounced, I did a reset on the EOS-R and it was immediately gone, only to re-appear again.

Now before the obvious is stated: "you have a faulty IS unit", I should mention that I also have the Canon 7DII and the Sony A7RII with the sigma mc-11, and with both these bodies, I cannot reproduce the issue, not a single time. Both have a perfectly stable viewfinder image all the time.

I contacted Canon, but in the meantime, any ideas as to what might be going on here? It is one of these things that are neither here nor there, nothing is obviously broken, but it doesn't work as it should.

Chris

Couple from the San Antonio zoo. Loving this camera so far. Moved from 6D to it. Still have my 7D mark II... will probably hang on to it till I try out the R with some airplanes / airshows...

Nice shot. These birds are so fun to watch. Gracefully clumsy!

I haven’t noticed anything like that with my 100-400II.

I bought a refurb 6 weeks ago and picked up a used RF 24-105 2 weeks ago. Last week the sun finally made an appearance and I could try them out. I love the sharpness of this combination.

Just had my first play with the R

All I have are EF lenses,. tried out the 40mm pancake, even with the adapter this makes for a nice portable package.

Next I went to a 50mm f/1.2 FD and played with focus peaking. Very cool!

I do believe the EVF is better than the older Fuji XT1.
It's going to take me some time to get the hang of this mirrorless business!

Just take your time and load up on fiber, Metamucil may help along with a nice prune danish. When you're as old as dirt, things take time. You got this.

Hell no!

But for $1,299.00 new, The "R" is the most affordable way to get a 2nd 5D4 sensor for when I wish I had two!
