Looks like this may be a good solution. I'll try a couple settings when I get home...Thanks!

I'm having my first field test days now with my shiny new R. Although i'm not yet used to how it responds and how it feels to shoot with, first impressions are good! :) i like what i'm seeing here with noise levels, dynamic range, auto focus and more. I think this camera has got too much crap from Youtubers and online reviewers, they all get caught up on the single memory card slot and the video crop factor which is silly. This is a great piece of camera gear.

Some early test photos, not the most exciting subjects but i had nothing better to focus on at the moment.

Nice!
The old trusty 400/5.6L seems to do quite well with the EOS R.

There was a complaint about the single card slot from a wedding photographer on one of the forums here. It can be an issue for working pros. I’m fine with it. I never uses both slots on my DSLR’s when I dabbled I wedding photography.

I don’t shoot video but that crop complaint is because it lacks IBIS. Canon may have to include that one day to compete but again I’m fine with lens IS.

Yep, i've seen all the complaints about it and i think most of them are silly. I looked back at my own statistics for broken memory cards and i had one CF card fail on me during the past 12 years, that's all. SD cards have never failed me in the past and components and memory technology has evolved in the past 10 years. I'm not worried about it at all.

I tested shooting some video handheld, sure it's easier with a IBIS system. But it can be done well with the built in software based stabilization or lens based stabilization. IBIS will come in future releases, most likely this year. But i don't see it missing from the R as a negative thing.

I guess if you are working pro one wedding failure would be enough that could hurt your business. The only time a card failed on me was many years ago when I purchased the cheapest one I could find. I had no means to download the files to reuse them. I was running out of cards so I got a few cheap ones. One locked up while I was burst shooting and could not access the files. Back at home I used the recovery software to get the files.

I shot some pics at the Chinese New Year celebrations today. It worked quite well even with the action filled shows.
