Not sure how good this looks. I hate eating on my MacBook Air especially since I picked up a 27", 4K Retina a few months ago. I guess this would be my second day out trying some BIF.

100-400 II and 2X. Pretty tough to BIF with that combo.

I've tried using an Olympus EE-1 dot sight for BIF @800mm and it works pretty well. Framing can focusing. If you miss the initial focus grab you can pretty much kiss the fly-by goodbye.

I tried to get this guy hovering but I failed, he just wouldn't stay in the same place for more than half a second or so. Better luck next time...?

I don't know. Can't tell how sharp it is but I don't think those two birds are.

Not refering to the image. I was refering to the text where he said "eating" on his laptop. I was saying I think he meant "editing".

Just ordered my EOS R from Canon, and I wanted to thank all of you who have posted on this long thread (which I did actually read all 472 pages of) for your efforts.

For all the sometimes tedious arguments about technical merits and design lapses, your shared experiences were useful and enlightening. Your comments and photos really made me consider if this body would fit my own needs as a photographer, if the time was right to jump into mirror-less from DSLR, and whether this was just a case of GAS or if a purchase would expand my available tools enough to be worth the money.

I have posted almost nothing on POTN in my on and off again membership (I was here back when it was Canon POTN, but dropped out of photography for a time). I hope to at least post a few pics here as a proud new owner once I get the R in my hands. It has been a long climb from my original 300D, and I look forward to making this camera a reason to recommit to photography.

I just ordered the EOS R! I already have a 5D Mark IV but wanted a second body so I thought I'd give it a go. Excited for it to arrive on Saturday :-D

Congrats. You might as well list your 5D4 for sale now. :-D

Looks great, f/11 = all of it sharp,.

.. but ISO 160 meant only 1/100 shutter. Lens IS did it's job, but this is the EOS R baby!!!, and with this sensor you could have been shooting at 1/1000 or more and the ISO required would not have reduced image quality. :)

Today i finally got to shoot with the R again and this time at the local indoors zoo, which obviously is poorly lit to make it even more challenging to get nice shots. Still fun with this little camera, it performs nicely.
