My girl is “Sheila”, really hoping for no more episodes. From what google tells me the breed expectancy is 12-15 years with fewer than 50% making it past 13. Gonna be a real downer when that day comes.

We also had Border Collie/Aussie mix a year younger than Sheila. Quite a shock when he unexpectedly got very sick and we lost him June of last year. It really made me come to grips with the inevitable for Sheila, so making an extra effort to enjoy whatever time we have left. Extra treats, car rides, and being pampered.

My wife has already said “no more dogs”. Of course she said the same thing when we had to say goodbye to “Scooby” back in 2006. Didn’t last three months before we had Sheila enter the picture ;-)a

To me, a house without a dog just seems empty. Especially so with the kids grown and gone.

How old was Kandy she she crossed the bridge if you don’t mind me asking?

Humanitarian appeal!!!
My friend is developing very rapidly a serious syndrome ... well known on these boards.
His particular iteration of GAS is fixed on a Canon EOS-1D X Mark III ... because he wants to do photos with dogs runnind on his 70-200 2.8 lens.
Now ... I keep saying to him that a EOS R will be more than an upgrade from his 5D mark II ... but he is not listening ... as you know partial diminishing of the rational faculties is a common side effect of this syndrome.
Now ... I don't own anymore the 70-200 ... and I don't have the company of a dog as well ... could anyone in the right position do a short test of tracking/focusing on running/jumping dogs?
I big thank you for all!
:)

If you were any sort of mate you'd be supporting him in his affliction and perhaps bung him a few quid to help him on his way, this is an itch that can't be scratched, more sympathy needed in such cases

Well I may not be the best help. If I could afford it I'd get the 1DX III. I wanted the 1DX II pretty badly. While the R can do it EVF has lag that does not appeal to all. Slow FPS too. With the 1DX it will be like shooting fish in a barrel. If I could afford 1DX I'd have an R as well with it's pricing these days.

She was 14 and a half. We noticed a decline after we had to put down her buddy pugsley 9 months earlier. She had the vertigo three times. It was odd to watch, at times she would just fall over out of no where. Then there was a few bouts of not eating. The first time she got out of it on her own, then had to spice up her food with stella and chewy freeze dry meats. The last time was just unfortunately the end. But damn that dog wanted nothing but my love right to her last minute. Great dogs! My wife said the same thing, no more dogs.. that was until she seen me being lost and very mopey . :-) good luck with her she looks like a real sweetie.

Cheers,
Joe

Look at the EOS R5 when it comes out. Could be just the right mix/blend of the best of both worlds. (WARNING! Future episodes of GAS likely with the EOS R choice as the RF lenses will then come into play . . .)

Really nice shot. I think the only way it could have been improved would be if it was shot on Ilford FP4 Plus or maybe Tri-x
