I don't think that I saw it posted previously, but there are firmware updates for the EOS R and RF lenses. The lens updates add compatibility for the EOS R5 and R6 cameras for the lens IS to work with IBIS. The 1.7.0 firmware for the R adds the following items.

Support has been added for the following lenses:
Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM
Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM
Canon EXTENDER RF 1.4×
Canon EXTENDER RF 2×

The operation of playing back through the multi-function bar has been improved *
* please refer to the latest version of the camera’s Instruction Manual that is released with the firmware update.

Support for the Battery Pack LP-E6NH has been added.

Nice to see it includes yet more and more of the upgrades and feature enhancements they promised at launch.

Is anyone a little interested in the low cost RF super teles? I think the 800 kind of catches my eye a little, but that f/11 means basically only bright days, slow wildlife and probably higher ISO.

I'm still finding it hard to buy RF glass -?

Same here, I'm really happy with the EF lenses on the R but I'm very much interested in the 800 and the 85. The 35 1.8 is the only R lens I own and I'm really happy with it.

Not sure at all about the 800mm. f/11 is very limiting so I feel it would have to be tack sharp to in a way make up for that. But at that price point, I sort of doubt that it will be.
I'm also wondering if it is considerably better than the EF 100-400mm II with a 2x extender. If not I could just as well get the 2x extender and use it with my 100-400. Would give me way more flexibility with it being a zoom lens and being faster from 100-560mm...

C&C always welcome

Yeah, I'm still using the EF 70-200. I'm holding out for an f4 version of that 15-35 at half the price (hopefully) of the 2.8 version, come on Canon.

Low cost RF 24-105 is great too. Canon has been nailing every low cost RF lens, although only two in total so far.

The Paper Wasps in our back garden sheltering from the rain this morning. Lucky the EOS R and MT-26EX RT are water resistant.:-)

I took 50 frames with the Helicon FB Tube and stacked them in Helicon Focus.

Cheers

Dennis

No, I preordered the 100-500, and very much doubt I'll be disappointed with it. I'm selling my 300/f4- nice glass but I need a zoom, and more reach.
With my 24-105 f4, I'll only long for a wide angle for night sky shots and 1.4x TC, eventually.

Frankfort, Michigan - Couple sunsets over the Forth of July holiday. Lake Michigan was so warm ... made jumping in with the kids a lot easier this year :)

Got my refurbed R w/ RF 24-105mm on 7/21. Trying to adjust to it coming from the Canon EOS M6. I'm having to learn certain things about photography again but boy is it fun to use this combo.

Tried my hand at selfie landscapes today. It might have been better with an empty bench!

Shot with the RF 24-240. I focused 1/3 into the frame but needed a bit more DoF. Don't blame the lens.
