Thanks. Yes, the 100-400ii or iii with a 2x would be much more versatile albeit a fair bit more expensive.

I already have the 100-400II so in this case it would actually be cheaper to get the converter. I guess the 800 would allow me 1600mm with the 2x but F22

Hmm, that could be an interesting combo, I'm not sure it would be terribly useful though :-)

A bit of a Norman Rockwell vibe- I dig it!

Thank you, Andy! It does, doesn't it. All it needs is a young child, cane pole, crumpled paper lunch bag, bucket and a dog.

Really curious why Canon didn't go f/8 for their RF super tels and raised the price a little? I think it'd make more sense IMHO. I mean my sigma 150-600 is f/6.3 on the long end and will take at least a 1.4x extender with reasonable results. :-|

I think it's price and size/weight. My bet is they would be exponentially bigger to let in twice as much light.

Got up to 107 today in southeastern WA. When my wife and I went for a walk at 7:30pm it was still 98 degrees. We walked near a field that I saw had bailed their hay so I drove back after we got home and snapped a few pics after sunset.

Gone already, don't you at least want to wait til the R5 is in hand? Or are yo one of those that got in on the first shipment?

Looks like I won’t get mine until September probably :(

Wow, really love this! Very interesting perspective and the curve the neck makes immediately catches the viewer's attention.

I got an email the other day from Canon indicating that it will ship tomorrow. Time will tell...
