Sure looks like it. Some epic skies for you, monsoon season I'd say.

Jul 26, 2022 02:14 | #9227 I went up to photograph the pond with some late afternoon sun, never got the sun, got this as a consolation prize. (wildlife photography is tricky, lots of misses) Image hosted by forum (1170537) © patrick j [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. I've read of an incident or two this year in CO with a mother moose and calf and people accidentally coming across them on the trail and getting charged. This moose seemed mild mannered.

My daughter and I came across a moose enjoying a drink while at the Teton's several years ago. We managed to get some great shots and made for a nice Xmas card but...was quick to not have my back to him for very long! Definitely proceed w caution!

Jul 27, 2022 20:14 | #9233 For a camera many had written off as irrelevant, under featured, and as a nominal 'first pass try' at a mirrorless camera, the buzz sure seems to continue and the captures seem to be outstanding. Just look above this post.

Jul 28, 2022 12:27 | #9234 Yeap! Works fine for me. I think it's better to get an R7 + R if you like both landscapes and wildlife/sports.... You can get BOTH for ~$3k WilsonFlyer wrote in post #19409646 For a camera many had written off as irrelevant, under featured, and as a nominal 'first pass try' at a mirrorless camera, the buzz sure seems to continue and the captures seem to be outstanding. Just look above this post. Admittedly, I now own an R6 along with my R, but I'm a gearhead. The R7 is probably coming sooner rather than later also if they ever start shipping it so it's actually in stock. But my R isn't going anywhere. Why? Because it does what it's supposed to do. At 32 megapixels FF. It ain't eating, and it isn't going anywhere.

golfecho (I will regret that) More info | Jul 28, 2022 12:51 | #9235 I've been "getting along" with an R and an R5 for a year or so. Started with the R, and added the R5 a while later. Love them both. I tend to leave the R5 with the longer lens mounted (the theory being if I'm trying to reach out to a subject then the higher pixel count will help if I need to crop in later on). I use the R as much or more than the R5.

Jul 28, 2022 15:25 | #9236 Now that's a setup! golfecho wrote in post #19409855 I've been "getting along" with an R and an R5 for a year or so. Started with the R, and added the R5 a while later. I use the R as much or more than the R5. So last weekend, I took the plunge and sent my R in for a full spectrim IR mod. Something new I can branch into. It was gone for 2 or 3 days, and I decided I couldn't have just one "unmodified" camera, so I ordered a brand new R. So now I will have 3 mirrorless bodies . . . one R5 and two R's. Crazy? Probably. But my point is the R is a great camera in it's own right. Better that an R6 for sure (in my humble opinion). There you have it . . .

You can get BOTH for ~$3k Landscapes don't need fast focusing systems and all that... I think "most people" did just fine with the 5d - 5div... So then it becomes a game of need vs. want. Marketing is always there to tell people they're somehow "missing out" if they don't have: ___________... It's a never ending treadmill... Sounds like we R users are in agreement. I've had mine for 3 years and no urge to upgrade. I think if I were a wildlife photographer, then probably the R5 would be appealing with the eye focus and that high FPS and more pixels (for cropping), but as mostly a landscape person the R does everything I want.

Yes! I love my R for landscape. I didn't "need" it but my uncle left me some money and I wanted something that would remind me of him. I don't see any reason to upgrade it for what I use it for. jamganz Goldmember More info | Jul 29, 2022 07:46 | #9239 I just scored the R7 myself that I will use mostly for wildlife. Hoping to give it a good workout over the next month when I head up to Vermont. No intentions of ditching the R. Will be nice to have both bodies that use the same mount system and batteries. Most likely selling my M50 setup though.
