Wow! and I had no idea they even had a state side center like this!! Will def be on my agenda if I head out that way!

I can only imagine a GT3 for the day - they're untouchable on the track (and the sound! redline!! bonkers!)- I've always cared more about handing/limits than the straight line stuff (Probably because my father had me at the dragraces so many weekends growing up, that you sort of just want something different!! I do love me some Jet Cars though!!:twisted::twisted:)

I almost bought a used Caymen S, but I opted for a 370z - yeah it's a pig in the corners so you have to be onboard with stupid amounts of front camber and frequent tire replacements... so I just baby the thing, but a front swaybar made a night/day difference - best $150 I have ever spent on anything auto related!!

Thanks for sharing - and here I thought I had to go to Stuttgart!! (Which would be fun!!)

Actually they do! So with it being their North American HQ's, it's also the Experience Center for test drives and driving simulators. You can rent everything up to a GT3 to drive on the track out back. You have to book it on their website.

The place is literally immaculate and so much to see everywhere. The museum changes vehicles that are on display so you never know what you will see there. Underground parking garage had a signed pace car along with a Michelin man tire air compressor. I stopped up with a friend about 20mins before they closed, we got to hang out for about an hour, staff was very nice. I have a ton of pictures however I don't wanna flood the thread. You might recognize the building if you have seen the later Avengers movies.

Yea, they have I believe 2 Experience Centers in the USA, the one in Atlanta, and the one Los Angeles. It is well worth a visit!!

GT3 would be soooo nice to drive around the track, my dream would be the Carrera GT, however from what I read that car is a handful to drive on the track and I have no experience behind the wheel of a supercar on that level. I've rode motorcycles on the track, that's it. Glad you like the photos, Stuttgart would be very nice!!!!

Yeah I think that's why most would be buyers go for a 911 setup for touring, with much more forgiveness at the limits!!

It'll be interesting if Elon ever comes out with that roadster - battery life/range vs. track duty - will be interesting!

I agree, one wrong move on the CGT and it might be a wrap and parts are expensive for it.

That Roadster, if the performance numbers are close to what's possible will be a game changer!

Thanks!! I just did a basic highlights/shadows on that one! Too hot to hike/be out during the day, so I'm limited to around sunset - into the night...

Is Arches NP doing the permit thing? And if so, are they hard to get?

Park is wide open after 5pm if you have your national parks pass and/or are willing to pay the entrance fee. If you don't have either - then, currently - after 6pm, it's wide open ( in other words - you don't have to stop at the entrance booth looking lost/puzzled idling for 20 seconds... just stop at the speed bump and go through!!).

SO - I go after 6pm as it's too hot during the day. Sunsets around 8:15-8:20 - this allows about 30 mins of drive time to get anywhere in the park, and an hour to hike/setup for a sunset shot. Do keep in mind, it's not the end of the world if you don't get to your destination by sunset - as if you have a clear horizon, you can get away with using longer exposure times until the blue hour really takes over.

April 3rd - Oct 3rd = is when you "get" to play the timed entry reservation game. Recreation.gov; Otherwise it's going back to the standard operation for the fall/winter

They do operate the gates as early as 5am...So plan on getting in before that! otherwise plan on the time entry game... which I don't have any experience with, so others may chime in. So far from what I've heard, most are able to get a time slot they wish, but, just know that if you "wing it" - they will have you sit in line for an hour to two, only to let you past the first gate (lol) and then a guy standing there will ask you for your timed entry permit. If you don't have it, they'll turn you around and now you've lost an hour of your day... :-D

Sounds about how Rocky Mountain NP is operating, but that's a little far to just hop up there for an hour around sunset. I have reservations for Wed for a wilderness area here, had to make them nearly 2 weeks ago before they all got locked up. Of course, that far out you don't know what the weather is going to be, just potluck. Maybe during the non-lockup months I'll try to get out to Utah. Cooler then, and fewer people, or somewhat fewer anyway.

Yeah it's "difficult" for me to provide any advice on Arches via an "elevator" version.

Lets just say this: Arches is probably the most challenging places I've ever photographed in my 25 years on the hobby - not because there isn't beauty readily apparent, but more so - because, you're perpetually surrounded by distractions/noise/light pollution - it's something you become more aware of the more you visit...

I'd have a plan: What photos? why? when? etc...

Winter/Snow: bring some micro spikes as they're sometimes needed depending if you want to be away from the noise/distractions on the main road.

The further you can get away from the road = the less perpetual noise making you get to hear!! :-D:-D:-D
