I'm surprised RRS or Kirk doesn't have one that allows one to slide it around as needed with an open notch area where it screws on....

I had one with the notch but it was a pain in portrait orientation. If the camera was eye level and I decided to lower the tripod and have the screen facing up I had to take the camera off of the tripod, rotate the screen and put it back on the tripod. If you are thinking "why doesn't he just kneel down?", remember that I am in a lake or swamp and would fill my boots or waders with water.

That's what articulating screens are for. I don't understand why manufacturers think no one wants to articulate an articulating screen.

Yeah that's highly frustrating.... I've just sorta lived with an arca swiss ballhead that's nearly 20 years old... and then making adjustments to the tripod legs, then more corrections again to level... it's basically a multi step process in frustration if you're on uneven ground in a big hurry due to changing light... but the "R" is def a slower camera to work with coming from the R5. It says: "don't tell me what to do!" all the time!! :-P:-P:-P

Been there, done that! That is why I have been using an Acratech pan and tilt or Leofoto G4 geared head on a leveling base for years. They eliminate a lot of frustrations, especially in the swamp. I also use a center column because if the composition needs the camera to be 2 inches higher it is so much easier raise the center column than it is to uproot the tripod from the muck, adjusting the legs, reseat it in the muck, etc. Saves a lot of time when the light is fading.

Thanks. I like to mix in this type of thing every now and then with the broader landscape type picture.
