hes spoken about why .. in a previous video..
but in any case . he did state , generally speaking.. that the eosr .. gave him nothing new that any current dslr didn't currently offer. ,,
even the new manual focus system , wasn't accurate enough that he didnt need to adjust focus manually..

he is speaking strictly from his opinion .. and why he emphasized he is not a camera reviwere.. ,.. his opinioin

I guess I've missed his videos on what's lacking in his 5D. It seemed odd that the focus wasn't quite right for him, I had the idea a mirrorless focus system was always on the nose. Anyway, when he said he wasn't sure who the camera would appeal to, he missed out on people like me who are on an apsc and might want to go to a full frame, but don't need all the bells and whistles of the 5d. More 6D, but with the improved sensor.

That's one of the more rambling videos I've ever seen. He swings like a pendulum like "I am not qualified" to "its a fine camera" to I didn't do any "lab tests" .... back and forth. That's barely a review, and not quite a rant. I'm a landscape photographer too, but the examples below I find much more ample to convey various points to think about. Notice how the guy you posted covers very little information. Lots of talking, but not much info. And if he want's high resolution, the 5DSR has more than most people need already. So much in fact, the other brands haven't touched it yet and Canon only stuck that much in the 5DS and 5DSR. It's so much, I'm almost hoping the 75 megapixels becomes no more than a rumor. Half the time I use my 5DS, I'm lowering the camera file size setting.

Now these are what a review looks more like ... this has been posted before ...

I thought he was honest, he was given the camera to try it out and it didn't suit his uses. Personally I think for landscape if you could afford the latest Fuji medium format would be the go, I've watched these other reviews, I think if you have the 5D4 this is like he says a sideways step.

I saw that earlier today, I didn't find it at all useful. He already shoots a 5d MK4, the sensor on the EOS R is virtually the same, not really enough difference I'd think to justify upgrading, so don't know what he was expecting. He said he was already disappointed in the camera before he ever got his hands on one. He talks about leaving Canon, but doesn't say why. I usually like Heaton, but I don't think this was a very well thought out video (not review, as he himself says).

he got the camera to use and said he would post his thoughts, from some of his past videos I think he has been thinking of a camera upgrade for some time.

I guess as he said the 5D4 can be picked up cheaper and unless you want mirrorless and a flip screen that would be a better choice for some. I dont think he at any time said the camera was a dud or anything

its all point of veiw, anyone with a 5DIV it makes no sense. But anyone with less then that camera you are getting an upgrade. From what canon was saying there is another higher end model coming out, so the EOS R is like the 6DII but with close to 5D IV sensor perfomance in the mirrorless category. At least that's my take on it.

Cheers,
JOE

I think he was just caught up in what he was expecting, This to him was to be the top mirrorless camera from Canon but it's not. From what he wants from canon he has to wait a bit, Even then being a first generation wont do as well as sony who has had more shots at it to this point. Just my opinion of course.

Cheers,
JOE

That new camera will be more of an interest to me, however I do not want 75 megapixels

Yeah, 75 is overkill in my opinion. Let's just hope that is just part of a bad rumor.;-)a

You are not wrong there :-D But I cant see myself leaving canon, not Because Im a mad fanboy (fangirl) but because I already have too much glass tied up in the gear I own. however Id love a small Fuji mirror-less interchangeable lens camera, something about the files I really love

My new R arrives today, photos to follow eventually.

For the record, I'm coming from a 7D I. I've been plotting to move to full frame for a while, so at this time the R and RF 24-105 made more sense then investing in a 6D or 5D and another EF lens.

So you won't hear me complaining that it isn't a discernable improvement from a 5D IV. :-D

Anyway keep the great pics and discussion coming, you folks helped a lot with my decision.

Ok tiger roach, now you're talking! I have the 7D and hope to go full frame soon, so I will wait for your pictures and comments. I will probably go for the EOS r but at the beginning of next year. Let's see what you think of the upgrade. It is hopeless to watch all the reveiws on YouTube, they are all about the video. I think I have made about 10 (short) videos during the 10 years I have had the 7D... but I like the photos coming from the EOS r.

I agree, especially from the 2009 APS-C design. The jump to any of the FF offerings from 2012 onwards would provide a pretty noticeable upgrade for IQ anyways.
