Two different Spotted Tree Monitors (external link) at East Point, Darwin, today. It's encouraging to see a few goannas, albeit small ones, as their populations were decimated 20 years ago by the arrival of the highly toxic cane toads to the Darwin region.

The very l o n g lens that Pippan used was his Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5/5.6L IS II USM lens at only 100mm

Kinda short if you ask me!

Full disclaimer: there was a 3 foot wire fence between us! And she'd just emerged from very muddy, weedy water, hence her lovely accoutrements.

We live in a quite open house and frequently get pythons inside. We've even had a carpet python in the toilet bowl! Fortunately the nasty brown snakes are quite rare these days (another casualty of toxic cane toads).
